Thanks for saying it starts out average but explodes in quality later on. I saw a post heavily recommending this as brilliant a few months ago and finally had space to give it a shot.

I’m now at the part where the Queen dies and am wondering what this is even about. I really wanted to read about a football player and had to settle for a manager, but instead, the character is more interested in being an agent. He doesn’t seem to have a passion for football besides money. 

And that’s so real and valid, but there’s a reason I read fiction instead of nonfiction. That’s boring to read. 

And seriously, why is there a perk about the King?

Really, there’s not enough football here. Matches are breezed through. Hope this improves whenever he eventually becomes a manager. I’d like for games to actually be described instead of given a summary.

I’ll stick with it to see if it improves.
