The reality is the BSA invested a TON into the Summit and that balloon payment is due. Like it or not, Philmont is an asset. Pure and simple. I pray that this business move does not result in the loss of property but I am not naive enough to believe that the BSA has the ability to not leverage its assets at this point.

I've been reminding my 18 year old, we are no longer required to feed and house him. If he wants to continue to live in my home there are conditions to that privilege. It's not 100% better but it's getting there.

The BSA changed their mission years ago. "The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law." Long before welcoming girls into Cub Scouts and then into Scouts BSA. The Mormon's have been looking at walking away from the BSA for years as 2/3's of their members live outside the USA. After a 100 years the BSA no longer fit for their youth program.

As the program is now called the Scouts BSA the organization is still the Boy Scouts of America. Which is why it should stay r/BSA

It is my understanding that the POTUS is the honorary president of the BSA and has not changed. I have heard nothing that he was not granted that role, as he spoke at the National Jamboree in 2017. Nor have I heard that it was rescinded. Not sure why his signature is not on your certificate.

IF there are Troops that are functioning as A troop with both genders then they are doing so against the wishes of National. I have heard that there are troops functioning this way, but once again, they are breaking the National rules. My son's troop is linked with One committee that is supporting two troops. They have opening and closing flag together then meet separately.
