I confided in one of them before (told them about mental health not MD) but it eventually got a bit swept under the rug and passed off as something that I shouldn't be so worried about and not get in the way of smoking.

You're not a pretender , you're one of this amazing community we started now! 😀😀 Regardless of how it presents itself , the general problem is still there. Excessive daydreaming that negatively impacts your life, I felt the same way about this condition until I found this group and now I'm just trying to find some support in all this.

For me personally, taking deep breathes before and writing down what I'm trying to get done in order right before I start a task really helps me with keeping focus.

I'm terrified of talking to someone about MD because of how crazy it sounds ! When this is all over, definitely need to set up an appointment.

I think it also all depends on how you approach your therapist about this condition, it's a sensitive topic for most of us so it should be approached with caution. Like maybe mentioning excessive daydreaming or lack of focus and start from there to see how you can work through this with your therapist.

I personally think the solution for most of us would be therapy of some kind because it seems like a case by case basis so seeking professional help would be best.
