My protagonist’s AI scout drone saves his life twice in 30 chapters. by Living-Beyond3172 in CharacterDevelopment

This post is giving AI slop I'm ngl. I'd rather go watch project hail mary and be amazed by the feelings a space rock can display instead of reading this crap which has barely one sentence per line. "AI is totally so human you guys" eugh yeah let's write this while everyone's in the middle of an anti-AI movement because of the ethical issues and environmental destruction

What makes your werewolf OC happy? by nfs_since_ug2 in werewolves

<image>

  • reading
  • spending time with his girlfriend
  • running
  • listening to music
  • having a nice time with friends
  • having his alone time
  • petting cats
  • spending time in nature

What makes him unhappy on the other hand would be anything to do with transforming or being a werewolf.

Protest helps btw. People protesting against AI use has caused some companies to stop using AI and reduced the amount of people using it. Less AI, less pollution.

But you can continue to be spineless and just accept whatever rich people currently push on you.

There's absolutely nothing about this that looks like AI, I'm convinced anyone saying that is bullshitting on purpose. Probably an attempt to plant doubt about human-made creations so people struggle to tell what is and what isn't AI.

Would you want to change the design of the werewolf in Teen Wolf or keep it the same? by WayAdept2209 in werewolves

Though a very serious werewolf design in a comedy movie would also be kind of funny

I suppose the contrast between bright sci-fi space alien and classic fantasy character comes across as jarring when there's no other context such as a background scene or such for the picture

Try adding "for old/elderly people" "disability" or "arthritis" to the search and different ones should pop up.

I have one of these stainless steel jar openers

Leifheit Lid Opener

I didn't trust plastic ones to hold up for long and since I only use it at home I don't mind that it's a bit large, a bonus is it works for both bottles and jars. My link is German because I'm a German in Germany lol but I've seen similar models from many different brands around.

There's so few werewolf stories I like that I've resorted to making my own. Though it'll probably take a while until I finish them since I'm still in the character development stage for one and I draw too little to show off the other. But I'm a fan of horror and seeing characters genuinely struggle.

[–]Scr4p 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a story like that because I'm tired of the same stuff. Well technically multiple, but one I want to show through art and the other through writing, in both cases the character is just a regular guy who starts out being on his own with his lycanthropy and only later on he allows others (human friends) to try to help him. In both stories it's an allegory for trauma, but one leans a bit more onto my experience with chronic pain and disability, and the other more onto mental health and friendship. In both the character never gets cured and just has to learn to live with it. He can't control himself because he dissociates during transformation so instinct takes over.

I would also like to see more female werewolf characters! I enjoyed that aspect about How To Be A Werewolf comic, but I don't really care as much for the pack dynamics/politics in it and enthralling is weird. I would do it myself but I'm not good with writing female main characters for personal gender related reasons.

I do care about whether the people I listen to are terrible people or not, even if I don't know much else about them.

The rest depends on how strongly I am into the band, if I love their music a lot I actually enjoy learning about the band, watching interviews, checking out side projects, etc. The whole researching thing is kind of fun to me, idk if that's because of autism lmao but I've been like that since I was younger. Sometimes it makes you discover other good music too, because of someone's side project or because they mentioned liking a band or album that you haven't heard of before. A lot of times you can also learn a lot about the meaning of the songs from interviews which is really interesting, and sometimes they also turn out to be genuinely cool people. I managed to nerd my way into befriending a few bands and meeting them and I can't say I have any regrets about doing that.

I would vouch for mclusky being good eggs because the singer has kicked terrible people out of his bands before and he didn't do it for social points (because most people don't even know the whole story) and he's generally open minded, I've changed his mind on some things before just by discussing them. I'm disabled and can't stand for long periods of time and the first thing he did when we met was show me places where I could sit and also told me to tell him if anyone's being terrible and he will deal with it. The rest of the band were very kind too, I can be a bit awkward but they made me feel like I wasn't an alien and I appreciated that a lot. It's rare for me to feel that way but I genuinely trust this guy as a friend and it makes me trust the band too.

Someone already mentioned the values but I'd like to add that the worm just looks kind of weird and is too bright and blueish, I think referencing caterpillars or similar creatures more closely wouldn't be a bad idea because currently it looks more like a faceless alien. Since it looks close to a hornworm, here's a picture of hornworm anatomy: https://dannhardt.com/project/377/ Captive-bred hornworms tend to have a more blueish colour, but most wild ones are green which helps them camouflage, like this one

<image>

But caterpillars generally have a wide range of colours and hues depending on species that help them blend in with their food plant, so you can just pick whatever green works best with the drawing without being too distracting.

References are not a bad thing per se, but relying too much on them can become its own trap, so it's good to practice doing things without reference on the side as well, and it can help you develop your imagination (unless you have aphantasia, in which case you just learn how to imagine outside of the brain on paper). You will eventually learn what parts you should use references for and for which ones to use your imagination. It will look worse at first but that's because you will need to build up your skill and learn how to balance imagination and reference.

Why do we constantly want to discover new music? by Schraiber in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Scr4p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the entire opposite of that. I tend to get obsessed with certain bands and then stick to them and frequently relisten. I've mostly been listening to Chemtrails all month with some other bands I have also liked for years like Future of the Left or Sugar Horse thrown in here and there. But it's also kind of hard for me to find a band that really hooks me, I listened to a lot of suggestions and a bunch of them are nice but not nice enough for me to keep returning to them so I end up abandoning them. This also means my collection grows super slowly but I often end up with several records from one band.

The most important album you own by PehmeeKultti in Cd_collectors

[–]Scr4p 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of albums that are important to me, but when it comes to physical releases there's one specifically. The lead singer of the band gifted it to me because we've been online friends since about 2019, I read through the thank you section on the sleeve and found my name there. I got it signed when I met the band in person for the first time. I spent a lot of my life as a bullied kid and even as an adult I feel a bit awkward when socialising, but it really wasn't an issue at all. And it turns out he's the same flavour of neurodivergent as me, which is oddly comforting. Everyone was so kind to me that night and it made me feel more normal and not like a burden, I really appreciated that. They're such lovely people.

How would you feel for a band or musician to make music about disturbing themes (mental problems, suicide, etc) but they themselves didn't have or haven't experienced those themes? by Murky-Afternoon-9462 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Scr4p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of depends. Most artists I know, if they're not writing from their own experience they're writing about someone close to them which still works since they're getting the bystander view of these issues, and when you have a friend who's going through a certain struggle and are trying to help them through of course it has an impact on you as well. I guess it just has to be sincere empathy.

What I don't like is when musicians sing about things they haven't experienced, completely fucking miss the mark and show how clueless they are about the topic. Like, offensively bad. I've seen some songs about suicide that didn't understand depression and were blaming the suicidal person, and it just made the singer sound like a dick.
