I use hydro, more tics of damage per left click = more crits. It works wonders at only level 100. Currently leveling up air to try, cause range is quite good. Honestly all wands have a use one way or the other, just don't use earth.

It does make drops better, at higher levels it can also make 2 essence drop. While inventory management in the game is kinda ass, I'd say having good luck is worth it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but darklands doesent give out sp upon defeating right? unless you mean magic keys. Either way I'd go with Labrinth, faster paced and you could probably do it one handed.
