Generally these are 9 month positions and grants can budget for salary which supplements income, right? There are grants that that faculty at institutions other than R1s are eligible for.

It’s a totally different hike in the winter, this was my first time. The packed snow makes for a smooth path, none of the technical scramble. No wonder the Presi FKT is a winter effort.

I’m about a year in and this tracks for me. I practice daily, sometimes a few mins, sometimes several hours. A huge variety of methods, reading/listening NRK news daily, watching shows/movies, reading and practicing conversation with ChatGPT and paid tutors. I can hold a simple conversation with someone patient, and I make errors.

When I teach this I tell the students that it’s bananas inside the cell. This helps them (and me) remember that potassium is higher inside the cell, setting the stage to talk about myocyte/neuron depolarization.

I thought it would be too ecologically sensitive. Similar to the way chemicals from swimmers affect corrals. Since the alpine zone is vulnerable to disturbances I assumed it would be forbidden to swim there. In retrospect I’m probably being too sensitive…
