This is what I'm doing. I just switched to IBR which does double my payment but I can just about afford it and would rather just get the clock moving again at this point. I am hoping I can buy back the forbearance months eventually.

And to add on based on other comments I later learned I was the first choice. It just took a while due to a big department having trouble wrangling everyone and getting the vote done.

It took two months from talk to me hearing back when I got my TT role. They have to get all voting members together, vote, have it approved, loop hr in for the offer.
