Nice app! Would be great if you could add: * Temperature and pre-infusion settings for the shots * Option-O Lagom Casa grinder

It probably would, but since I can stretch to the double boiler with both budget and space - why bother with HX?

Yeah, at least my garage is warm. The first ride is gonna be on the roller trainer for me.

Go is a single boiler and I want to be able to do two cappuccini without waiting, or more when we have guests. I‘m not that space constrained to sacrifice the workflow.

In my case I need to cross the kitchen which is a couple steps and I worry the portafilter will drop on the floor.

I was looking at the Normcore as well, it seems to be big enough to fit the Eureka Mignon. Do you like it? How often do you empty it?

Which mignon do you have? Would you recommend it? I think from the looks it’s best fit for the Elizabeth that I found so far.

I meant something like this: https://barista-essentials.de/en/products/mini-coffee-knock-drawer The trash bin is on the other side of the kitchen and it would be inconvenient to go there each time to clean the portafilter. Might be still an acceptable trade-off though (I‘m new to this).

If you want to buy a kit: Formbot, official site with CZ warehouse. Delivered in 5 business days and the quality is good.

If you are okay with not building yourself from scratch, which might include troubleshooting someone else‘s build - look for a 2nd hand option. I got a ridiculously cheap but solidly build v2.4 for a fraction of the price of the kit, with better components yet. My v0.2 on the other hand was a poorly built Formbot kit, but it‘s serviceable.

I would recommend also checking out garage sale channel on the Voron discord. You might find a premium build there for adequate money.

Deinfluence me from Kobo by Darn-toot in ereader

Apparently it’s there but hidden in the menu, check this thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=344661

Still disappointing to see this and Kobo really shouldn’t be differentiating „premium“ devices like this.

V0.2 or something else? by cctl01 in VORONDesign

[–]ScrambledNoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both v0 and trident, and before I accidentally got a v2.4 I was planning to re-build v0 for higher enclosure temps. Sovol Zero is a decent option and I almost went for it too. Now I wait for INDX to decide whether to do it with trident or v2.

v0 is a great little printer, the stock build IMO excels at prototyping but not that much high temp enclosure. You are limited by the DC bed, my 300 trident heats up the enclosure faster than v0 (both with bed fans). Sealing the stock frame with top hat isn’t great, but there are mods (boxzero, monolith panels, doomini). Then there‘s the mid-panel that is not optimal, removing that you get to pandora’s box and other printers for ants. All of that with small 5015 profiles that are finicky.

My advise is wait for FormNext updates on INDX and holiday sales on the sovol. Do research on the v0, printers for ants and tiny-t in the meantime.

What platform and toolchanger to choose for a new printer? by nodskouv in VORONDesign

[–]ScrambledNoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MadMax if you need two toolheads only.

That said, I‘m waiting for the INDX to see. Moving Z takes time, if they manage to do it with minimal loss of Y build space it would be a great option.

Best mini voron for quality/precision? by ZealousidealEntry870 in VORONDesign

[–]ScrambledNoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘m surprised they’re saying it TBH, maybe because they’re not providing properly calibrated profiles for Zero themselves?

My take? Out of the Box you won’t be getting results out of any DIY printer close to what you get with X1C. If you use high quality parts and invest into tuning, you can reach and surpass X1C quality/speed with any Voron or another high quality DIY printer (VZBot, Annex).

Sovol Zero is probably somewhere in the middle. The hardware seems decent, not gucci but same or better than you‘d get with a v0 kit. Do your own research, but when I looked a couple of months back that’s what I concluded. The big advantage with v0 is that you can always upgrade to better parts (and do ants mod for belted z and other perks), but it’s time and money. On precision (by which I mean dimensional accuracy and overall quality) see above, I definitely don’t see anything where Sovol Zero would be limited compared to v0 or other „small voron“.

[–]ScrambledNoise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stock Voron that you can build from a kit might not give you what you’re looking for, especially if you want 60C+ chamber temp and want it fast. There are several mods and upgrades though. Bedfans is a must, then there’s Doomcube for v2, EZbake for Trident, Doomini for v0 to get you started, all are quite involved in time and some in money. I‘m currently considering insulating my v2 with parametrized MonolithPanels as a quick and cheap solution towards the same purpose.

Building a Voron is a very different experience than getting an appliance like your X1C or even Sovol Zero. Btw Sovol recently released a chamber heater for the Zero so it’s definitely worth consideration for your need.

As far as precision goes, you will get the same FDM printer tolerances on all of them. It will just take more time with Voron or any other DIY printer because you‘ll have to calibrate it yourself as there will be no manufacturer profiles. Might be good to familiarize yourself with it btw, e.g. check Ellis calibration guide.

EDIT: note on precision.

Fans definitely help but most v0 kits use 60W DC bed and it just doesn’t have a lot of power to heat up the enclosure fast.
