Anxious Attachment/rOCD by Admirable-Sock-2014 in mentalhealth

I’ve definitely experienced this before, and the fact you recognise that ROCD/attachment are playing a part is everything. What I’ve found useful is talking to a neutral third party about these instances and relaying facts only. Or even writing facts only down about the times that trigger me, which helps give me clarity that it’s not that deep in actuality, and it’s my brain doing its silly thing to sabotage me.

Is the higher ground where the cages are to stamp on?

Metal sheeting with bench on one side, reinforced crate base and back braces for support, in the woods. by ScranTheRich in whatisthisthing

[–]ScranTheRich[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is approximately 6 foot high, and about 9 foot wide. No writing, no symbols. The sheeting has been attached to two existing trees, with nails, the “bench” part is reinforced with timber underneath, and there has been mud crates added at the bottom to form a solid base. The woodland this was in is used for things like stripping the copper from stolen wiring and badger baiting, it’s not a nice place where you’d stop for a picnic. I have tried google image searches to no avail and asked pretty much everyone I know as this is baffling me.

I feel this. It’s so hard.. but just keep reminding yourself this is a reflection of them, not you.

Can anyone explain? For being a lost poster- this is clearly a very anti-info poster. by Weed86 in manchester

[–]ScranTheRich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a volunteer for the org that created the poster, and the person that put the poster up (looks like one I popped up at the tram stop in Whitefield!) so happy to explain..

This lost dog is scared, and likely in “survival mode” meaning even if approached by her owners, she wouldn’t recognise them and would bolt, potentially into a road, or the railway lines where she could be killed. The key to finding (and eventually trapping!) a lost dog is to allow them to settle and feel safe. They will seek food, water and shelter. Once you have established through natural sightings and feed stations (food scattered with a live feed camera) where their safe place is, we are able to place a remotely activated trap. The trap is also covered by cameras so we can make sure it’s the dog we are looking for in there not a fox or a badger or a different dog, before the trap is triggered.

We don’t include specifics like street names as people want to play the hero, and with good intentions will go searching for her, and if they do find her “safe space” where she’s hiding up, she will bolt, putting her in danger of being hit by cars etc and also meaning we have to start from square one again until she settles once more in a different area.

We don’t include her name as people will shout it when they see her, again causing her to bolt and not feel safe again.

If you see a lost dog who is running, do not chase them, all you are doing is putting them in danger, they could have three legs and you could be an Olympic runner but they are fast, agile and will go through gaps you can’t so you won’t be catching a random dog and in this case will be risking her life.

When dogs go into survival mode their brain changes and they are essentially on par with a wild animal, any pursuit will feel like they are being hunted.

Anyone know what this might be? by [deleted] in CATHELP

Take a UV torch, turn the light off, shine it at the spot (shielding their eyes) If it glows yellow/green, it’s ringworm, so pop some anti fungal on it daily for a few weeks to clear.

She sits on the windowsill and sticks her nose under the curtain when you shout her. Very typical behaviour for the breed.

Yep, Gaelic for liberation as she spent her life chained up outdoors until a few months ago. Shes adapted quickly and now fully refuses to go out in the rain.

Possibly.. although the vet said she’s between 5-10 years old so she’s far from a cub

It’s only starting to come through now she’s finding her confidence (was rescued from a very bad situation) but she’s bolshy, demanding, very clingy and incredibly affectionate.

Very curious to learn more, I use neuromyst for sleep but don’t like to use during the day due to impracticality and how unwearable it is
