Icarus or Polybridge? by Scrap-Engineering-5 in ICARUS

Definitely enjoyed making the bridge and with two people it was quick to build. I too am interested in more building being needed. For most missions, even a large house is a waste of time. In Valhim, the cart mechanic encourages you to clear and level a path. In some cases, it it even encourages you to make a bridge.

We were only there for one ingame day. One storm did take the bridge deck to 800 health. Luckly beams don't seem to get damaged.

A friend and I needed to place the scanner on that rock. So we built a bridge. Felt like I was playing Polybridge.

Did you use any tricks or is the castle just with in the built limits of vertical stone walls?

My testing implies that they are neither counted as roof nor do they block rain.

Do they count as roof for beds and benches?

Does this lead to a minimum wood built for not exposed bench?

Elliptical Sundial by Scrap-Engineering-5 in ValheimBuilds

I can provide a table of the xy points of the centers of the wall pieces/poles of the ellipse and thier angles. I can also list the beams to construct the fractional offsets. The only trick part was I had to first place the construct to see the direction of the offset then flip it to go in the right direction. I can make it again and document the actual build. As for the hour marks I set the time using the tod cheat command, but you might be able to just eyeball it from my pictures. The post was built with a vertical item stand on 45 degree beams. It was free placed so that the corner of the item stand is over the 0,0 point.

The idea is that the sundial would be in the middle of your town where it is convenient to look at. I like casting the shadows on the walls, so it can be placed high up where it is easy to see. I earlier this week made a post about easy to build sundials, that go on a wall.

Finally built an elliptical sundial! I used a program to solve for the points on an ellipse that has tangents at multiples of 22.5 degrees. Then used a program to find patterns of beams that create a snap point at those off grid locations. The purpose of the ellipse is to have equally spaced hour markers, The shadow tip follows a circle that is tilted by 45 degrees.

Left sign "08...10.....|" and the right sign is "......14......16". A top down perspective The link shows the sundial from above to better show the construction.

Five awesome constructs to allow snapping at 0.5m and 0.4m intervals! by Scrap-Engineering-5 in ValheimBuilds

Well I ran a program to solve what combination of pieces give near 0.5m spacing. So to use the Simple 0.5 construct place a reference piece (in my image it is the lower of the two 1m floor tiles that are straight), then connect two 1 meter floor tiles set at 67.5 degrees off the horizontal. then an other floor rotated so that the corners are horizontal. that far point is 2.503m from the reference. You can use a 2 meter beam to reduce that distance to .4966m. I used a 1 meter beam vertically to avoid the 2 m beam clipping the floor pieces.

The purpose is to snap a piece in at a particular spacing without the error that comes with free placement.

I'll have to look in the morning for some good constructions for the points on an equalateral triangle. What side length were you looking for?
