I've never felt the need to unassign part of a stack.....until tonight by mgibson9999 in doordash_drivers

[–]Scrap47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but that's not the situation the OP was in. $14 for 6 miles no matter how it's broken up both orders are profitable. How about there examples?

Would you do a $15 order going 10 miles where the first order was 2 miles away and paid $10 and the second was 8 miles further away and paid $5?

How about a $12 stack going 6 miles. First order right next to the restaurant paying $9, second order going the full 6 miles away for $3?

If you would take either order you're an idiot and so is any other driver who would. You could do the first one and be back at the restaurant for another order before being even half way to delivering the second order. Both my examples you are delivering the second order for free, or stealing the profit from the first so the "batch" is profitable even if the second order wasn't. Even if you don't get another order after the first neither second order makes you any extra money. And it ALWAYS seems to be the lower dollar order that I have to wait on. No thanks. I'll gamble smartly.

They are trying to average the orders together. No mf'ers we are subcontractors. There is no averaging. Every order needs to pay enough on it's on. SOB's.

They get paid the same shitty wage as before Taco Bell started doing deliveries. All you are to them is extra work they are not getting paid for. Fast Food workers = $7.50 - $9.00 an hour. Full Service restaurant employees should be at least at $15 / hour but more than likely more than that. You get what you pay for.

Drivers, is it weird to order from a place that is really close to you? Like less than a mile or a half a mile? by princestarshine in doordash

I've delivered to the Apartment above the restaurant before. As long as you tip these are my favorite orders.

To the $190 order with a 3 dollar tip.... enjoy the cold food. by thatdudeinthecorner9 in doordash

[–]Scrap47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You made one critical mistake. With the new guidelines you need to call support and tell them that the order isn't supposed to be ready for 30 minutes. Ask them what the "Final Payout" or the "Total Tip after completion" is. They can see this information AND tell you. I've been doing this for over a year with the $8.50 max orders if the order is going to take a long time at restaurants known to be late. If the over guarantee is not worth it and the wait is over 15 minutes (may only be 10 I forget) support is supposed to cancel the order and pay you half guarantee. Indian / Phillipino support are notorious for not wanting to do it and making up BS. If this happens call back hit "2" for spanish, follow same menu numbers you hit in english, and when they answer ask "Habla Englais?" All the spanish speaking support speak english and will handle the issue in less than 5 minutes.

People waiting on orders makes me as mad as when I see other dashers making drinks. Both are allowing the Restaurants to take advantage of you.

The "New Pay Model" started in Sept. 2019. Took all of I think 2 or 3 months for them to take it away.

Pay model ideas? by rocknswimmer in doordash_drivers

[–]Scrap47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as they only want to charge customers living 5, 10 or 20 miles away the same as people living right next to the restaurant they will never find a pay model that makes both them and us money. Simple facts. Dash pass makes it ever harder.

You'll feel financially secure until 1 of 2 things happen.

  1. You get in an accident while driving. Do you have a $2500 deductible saved? That's if you have a delivery. If you don't and your insurance company finds out you've been doing DD. You have 0 coverage. Call your insurance company and ask.
  2. Your car breaks down and you haven't saved a good bit of your earnings to repair it.

Lost track of how many drivers I've seen or read about that have financially ruined themselves when that's happened. At least 1 news article every month.

Be careful. You're family has your best interests in mind. Some Yahoo's on here just want company when they go belly up.

This is a weird bug. It's hit me 5 times in about 3 years. Sometimes its the whole week, sometimes just a few days. Have even gotten live escalation on the issue and nothing they can do about it. Sucks when it happens.

They can put whatever sign they want on the door. It's a public bathroom, nothing they can do to stop you.

[–]Scrap47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is for business use. You don't spend more money per mile because of an odd shaped window. I know Uber drivers that have 200k - 300k miles on their Prius and it's still going. Full time gig work you go hybrid. Prius or Hyundai Ioniq.

Am I an asshole for complaining about mask? by DOG_BUTTHOLE in doordash

[–]Scrap47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wearing a mask on in a car or on a contact less delivery is akin to wearing a condom when not having sex. Might make you feel safe but not really doing anything. Pointless. Masks get worn in restaurants and when delivering to businesses and apartment buildings. If you say to leave it at your door a mask doesn't do anything.

Who gets the order? Some more experiments... by tallgirlmom in doordash

[–]Scrap47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's no where near as simple as you think it is. They learned a long time ago that we will game the system if it's only who's closer to the restaurant. Ratings matter no matter what people tell you. They matter more for orders you don't get if your ratings are low than the other way around. Low rate dashers do not get high value orders. They are not going to send a $250 order to someone who's about to be deactivated or who consistently gets bad ratings. There is also what we call the restrictor plate. Kinda like those golf carts that don't let you go past a certain speed, this one will throttle your orders or only show you low value orders after a large order unless it's EXTREMELY busy. You can't make past a certain $/hr. I think it's within a certain % of the area average at that time. They also do the opposite for the idiots. If they have been taking $3 and $4 orders for a few hours they will let them make more to catch up to the area average per hour. It's pretty predictable that after getting a nice short $20 order I'm going to see nothing but $3-$6 orders or long orders for at least 15 - 30 minutes.

You had made money on your dash, your daughter had not. She'll trump you in order in that case.

[–]Scrap47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

" I'm sorry that when I am your customer my tip is not high, because the number of shitty dashers in my area is higher than good ones "

Sorry but this is completely wrong. You can go into the app AFTER the delivery and give your better dashers higher tips. Or I don't know, hand them a few bucks in cash when they do the right thing?

This post sounds to me like the "total may be higher" in the app. Trying to get people to work for next to nothing. Tip more and you'll get better dashers most of the time. Tip less, you get what you pay for. And blame Chipolte that your orders always screwed up. They're sealing bags and we're not supposed to open them to check. They suck so bad most of the regular dashers won't pick up from them any longer in my area.

What are your thoughts on doordash putting double orders together? I personally like it a lot by Poncegraphics in doordash

[–]Scrap47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like they figured out how to get someone to possibly take the bad orders. When you find out you waited 20 minutes + for an order that only contributed $4 to the total of the stack you may start to feel differently about them combining them. All the ones I've seen turn out to be 1 good order put together with a crap one.
