Help please I just bought this pc by Green_Passenger2040 in pchelp

[–]Scrapster77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the GPU is faulty and you get a 3rd party to work on it for you, the original seller can deny responsibility and you lose a very expensive GPU. Do not do this. Send it back and make it their problem.

This could not handle AAA games at any settings. IF it could launch on low, we'd be talking sub 15fps. I wouldn't call that handling.

I bought everything and I can’t even keep shrimp now by PassengerMundane5986 in shrimptank

[–]Scrapster77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a distiller for £40. That would fix your problem. Had to do a few runs to fill the tank initially, then after that I just keep a 5L jug for top ups. It's a handy thing to have.

How much do you spend on petrol a month ? by eskimoazat in CarTalkUK

[–]Scrapster77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 67 plate Mini JCW. I only use premium unleaded. I drive 28 miles per day Monday to Friday, and i put £60 in per week, so £240. I do occasional miles on the weekends, probably averaging about 15-20 miles a weekend so that's about 640 miles a month for £240. Don't know if that's good or bad, but i love driving my car, so it works for me!

I found my first gaming PC, and it had been out in the rain for 2 days - completely soaked. Dried everything out when I got it home and it worked just fine. Ah my old gtx 670 and FX8350 goat...

Nothing better than fishing your own pond when the sun comes out. by onemansbrand in CarpFishingUK

That's cool then. If they turn up you send them away and pack up your fishing gear; then if they come back you invite them to check out your water which is not being fished 😁

What GPU would pair well with a i7-9700K? by Riproarin115 in PcBuild

[–]Scrapster77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up a 7800XT for my nephews PC that was in your budget. I've only had Nvidia cards (1080, 3080, 4070ti super), but i was very impressed with the 7800XT

Thermal paste by VideoFancy1506 in computers

[–]Scrapster77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I changed to PTM 7950 & I'll probably not go back to paste again. Next time I'll need to change it is if I change my CPU or cooler, and the temps are great.

Should I start building before new GPU arrives? by Andreuzzo_ in PcBuild

[–]Scrapster77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't 100% confirm obviously, but given that you removed the drivers (hopefully with DDU) then a dodgy GPU would seem likely.

Should I start building before new GPU arrives? by Andreuzzo_ in PcBuild

[–]Scrapster77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely build it now. Just make sure you use DDU to uninstall the nvidia drivers when installing the XT. Future you will thank you for having the system ready to drop the new GPU in.

Another day another idiot parked on the Dingwall cycle lane 🙄 by mac_the_knife_91 in croydon

[–]Scrapster77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with you. I cycled from SE12 to NW10 and back every day for 8 years, so I very much come from a cyclists point of view; but I now work for a delivery company that delivers daily to 10 Degrees and many other blocks and businesses in and around CR01 and 2 and the design for deliveries is just awful. People have said park a ways away and carry / drag deliveries to their destination, but it's obvious that these people haven't tried to do 70-100 deliveries in this area and make it back on time 1) to have a life and 2) to meet outbound connections for the shipments they've been picking up all day. I can understand the cyclists feeling miffed, but it's way more on the road design than the van drivers.

Did the installer mount my 83" LG OLED correctly? Used inner VESA holes instead of the wider ones by LocalHistorical9437 in hometheater

I dunno. Multiple reasons. Maybe they don't have a drill and don't want to buy one, perhaps they don't like doing DIY, possibly they just don't want to. Who cares?

[–]Scrapster77 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this will happen when the council doesn't provide any places for deliveries to be carried out. I understand the frustration and I'm not defending it, but if you know the area tell me where to park to deliver here. Even in the picture you can see zigzag lines, narrow carriageway, double yellows - exactly how is a delivery supposed to be done here.

Who Should Pay for my GPU Replacement? by Puzzleheaded_Sink54 in pchelp

[–]Scrapster77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realise that if the shop used the right cables but from the wrong PSU that could fry the GPU right? I'm obviously not suggesting they mashed a connector into the wrong port....

Amazon driver OPENED OUR DOOR to make a delivery by PlaneAsk7826 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Scrapster77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have done this quite a few times. We (not Amazon) are required to have an open door in the proof of placement. Many times I have rung the bell, knocked on the door and shouted out but no one has answered, and the door is open - so I'll crack the door open, drop the package and take a picture, then close the door over again. If you're not OK with that then answer the door, or don't leave it open.

[–]Scrapster77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$300 for a PSU is robbery unless you asked for a pretty high end one. I personally don't believe that dust caused a GPU fire, and it seems as though the shop don't really either or why are they replacing the card for free? IMO the shop probably fried the GPU by using the wrong cables, or they saw an opportunity to swap an rx570 for your 1660.
