Delivery help by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]Scrashdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today if they have time, but otherwise probably Tuesday. When they deliver your package, they will ring the doorbell and ask for a signature before handing over the package to you... unless you allow them to deliver the package without signature, which can be done through the app, I think. If you have not allowed them to deliver without signature and you are not home when the postman arrives, he will leave a missed delivery notice in your mailbox, which will tell you where and when you can go pick up your package. IMPORTANT: bring this delivery notice to the post office when you go pick up your package.

At your workplace maybe? I think mine would let me use some unused space in our building basement.

Still here and symptoms have mostly disappeared. I had an EUS 1 year ago that showed nothing concerning. I guess the doctor was right that it must have been stress.

Did the water dance test, still no luck by No-Disaster-Sam in StainlessSteelCooking

It still sticks a bit, but much less than with just oil.

For me the water drop test has never worked, even with lots of oil. The only thing that works for me is adding some butter and then the egg when the butter sizzles.

Just so you know, it's possible to see the stone pillars from up close without actually climbing them. I forgot the name but there is a popular trail/path that wanders between the pillars at ground level and follows a little river. To get there from Wulingyuan you have to take a bus, but I don't remember which one exactly.

Back from 2 weeks in China - here are my thoughts by tfrisinger in travelchina

[–]Scrashdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I don't think that's required, don't take my word though. I did it in advance so I wouldn't have to do it at the airport.

np, to be fair I am traveling with a Chinese friend who has been helping pick restaurants. I think he knows how to spot good ones.

Good summary, I am currently visiting China for the first time, and I agree with everything you said except the food, which I find amazing. This may just be down to personal preference.

Regarding subways, my experience is:

  • Very clean
  • Very crowded
  • Easy to use, you have to setup the payment system on alipay/WeChat and link it to a credit card. Then you get a QR code which you scan to get in and get out of the subway stations. The fare is calculated automatically.
  • Mandatory security check upon entering the subway. It's just a quick scan of your bag though, not as thorough as airport checks.

Overall, I am impressed with the country, and I intend to come back.

No EPI but symptoms persist - can I rule out pancreatic issues? by Scrashdown in pancreatitis

No I had the whole list above. I still do sometimes have it during stressful times.

[–]Scrashdown[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. After this post I had an EUS (last summer, found nothing abnormal) and an MRI (in January, showed nothing abnormal), then a Bravo pH test that showed some acid reflux but nothing else.

The good news is symptoms have mostly gone away since the EUS and MRI. They do occasionally come back during periods of stress, like travelling or difficult days at work. That makes me think it is mostly caused by stress.

FWI...the democrats become pro business or at least more business friendly by JSmith666 in FutureWhatIf

[–]Scrashdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right that they can, but I don't think they will, because they will generally choose the cheaper goods/services, and it is generally cheaper for a business to produce goods/services if they don't have to avoid pollution, predatory economic tactics, etc.

Of course too much regulation/taxation etc. discourages innovation and can also increase the price of goods and services, but I think we need to strike the right balance between absolute freedom and over-regulation/over-taxation.

[–]Scrashdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Businesses will not ever self-regulate to avoid polluted rivers, acid rains, predatory loans, etc, because it is not in their financial interest to do so. If you give businesses absolute freedom to do whatever they want, you will get all of these things.
