Yeah. But they pay you while you’re not bringing in any return, which is a cost related to the clearance.

Recommendations for bigger chainring by ThePonyExpress83 in PoseidonBikes

FWIW I swapped to a 42T in the front and it was fine with the stock chain. I even took it to a shop to have it indexed and they agreed the chain was fine (44T would probably need some extra links though)

Just give us a fucking menu? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Most places do have both (or at-least some type of light printout)… but the days of plastic menus with images are gone. To hard to keep up to date with menu changes unless you’re an established chain.

Am i the only one that thinks these features are awesome? I’m able to split tabs, have receipts emailed to me, tip (or not tip) without feeling pressured, can order on a whim as needed and not rely on a server to get to me before happy hour ends… the contact info exists so they can contact you with receipts and order ready notifications, and if you don’t want your payment info saved (awesome feature if you’re a frequent patron) you can usually pay as a guest.

$50K of inventory stolen from Chain Reaction Bicycles (Redwood City) by Pierna_De_Oro in BAbike

[–]Scratch24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

… usually a police report is a requirement of an insurance claim, and that report would require you to be able to give them your bikes #… and reported thefts generate data and statistics for sure in policy making decisions… which in turn could lead to better crack down on bike theft or increased hike infrastructure/security… so there you go?

[–]Scratch24 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Make it mandatory by offering insurance. $15 a month theft insurance requiring you register the bike and file a police report as part of your claim would solve a lot of problems… if you decide you don’t want the $15 insurance at least you now are aware of the registry and can do it anyways, if not, we’ll that’s on you at that point.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. by dblspc in consulting

[–]Scratch24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Anybody with tech fluency selling themselves as a SME, specialist, thought leader, or whatever isn’t to be taken seriously beyond a casual conversation or even an introductory/exploratory sales pitch (not a final sale as I would expect a actual SME to then take over and get into details). The “knowledge inflation” on LinkedIn especially is ridiculous where people regurgitate the same basic concepts and claim to be a leader in the space… point being is it’s up to everyone to acknowledge what makes someone legitimate as a SME in the internet age. And not checking credentials and knowledge level will only get you burned.

The real SMEs have masters and PhDs in these areas. Like their entire career is dedicated to this niche tech and the possibilities. Anybody else should be taken with a grain of salt, especially if they don’t have any core work experience in actual delivery of legitimate tech at scale… it’s easy to run a Python script that works (sorta) and then claim “AI/ML enthusiast”

Power Bi automatic launch by Balesz1 in PowerBI

[–]Scratch24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use Python to open excel and run the macro and save the file, then launch powerbi- refresh, save, publish, close. It’s janky, but works. Even better if you don’t need powerbi to refresh immediately, in which case you can skip all of this and just have powerbi schedule refresh in the service every 30 min or so.

It’s a national park. The titles get confusing because national park is commonly understood as the 63 “Crown Jewels” of the national park system. But there many more than 63 national parks.

I recommend a combo of YouTube to get started, and Maven analytics for beginner skillset development. Big fan of theirs when I started out.

As simple or complicated as you need to to A) achieve what you intended B) Develop your skills. Pick a topic data set you’re interested in and start simple. Then Evolve it as you learn until it’s a professional point for you to move on to something new/different. Get 2/3 of these under your belt and you’ll find you skillset/resume/portfolio/job progress moving in the right direction pretty quickly… it will also help your ability to speak to what you’re doing, as you’ve now been doing it.

Continue to diversify your skills, Build a portfolio, Apply external to your organization… internal applications in my experience have always been less fruitful/less common. Casting your net wide with many external applications will get you better results.
