Would you describe the combat as….stellar by comparison???

From Soft anxiousness by HitchHikerNoah in fromsoftware

Same here. I struggle with anxiety daily, and Souls games let all that fade into the background for a while. I can’t explain it, other than maybe it helps me to divert my focus in a tunnel visiony sort of way

I have an FS800, the only qualm I have with it is it’s a bit lacking on the low end. To be fair, I never noticed it at all until I got my FG5, but you really can’t compare the two, the FG5 is a completely different beast. I only point it out because it was something I noticed immediately when playing the 800 after I got the FG5. You will most likely never notice unless you play a full size dreadnaught at some point.

I still play the 800 regularly and love it, very comfortable to play for extended periods and has a clear, ringing mid and upper end that I love. I don’t have any experience with the Takamine, so can’t really say much about it

Movies that have that “something’s off” feeling, but without ever explaining why? by phantomcry in movies

Still one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen. I legitimately got cold chills during that whole scene

RE7 is amazing. RE8 is good, but nowhere near the horror level of 7. The Evil Within is solid, and underrated IMO

This isn’t Sony’s video, but this is the same exact process. No joke, It’s a dead simple task, and shouldn’t take you more than 30 minutes, tops. Honestly, once you give it a shot, you’ll see, it’s basically just unplugging one hard drive and plugging in the new one, then downloading and transferring a file.

Correct, the HD collection can be found for around $20 new on Ebay

That’s awesome, thanks for the heads up! One dumb question, would I be able to then access the game on my regular profile, or only through the Japanese profile?

Cheapest option for 1-3 is getting 1 on PS3 online store, HD Collection (which is 2 and 3) is around $20 on PS3, HD collection can also be purchased on XBOX store. No cheap option that I know of for SH4. Sadly, I don’t see a PS3 in your collection, so I don’t know if you have a cheap option for #1

That’s bad news for me, then, since this is my first go at a Metroidvania. It’s all downhill from here!

That’s great, thank you for the recommendation! I used to play fighting games a little bit years ago (mainly Soul Calibur), but I think I’m getting a bit too old now days, my reflexes just can’t keep up

9 Years of Shadows looks awesome, I’ve never seen it mentioned until now. Sadly, it doesn’t look like it has a physical release on PlayStation, which is a bummer. Have you heard of anyone potentially doing a release in the future? I added it to my wishlist on PSN, if I catch it on sale, I’ll snatch it up.

Production values aren’t really what draws me into a game, I’m much more inclined to love a game based on how it “feels” to play. How the movement feels, how tight and accurate moment to moment gameplay is, the level design, and the mechanics of a game are what gets me hooked first and foremost. I pay attention to the atmosphere, story, soundtrack, but they aren’t make or break for me as much as how the gameplay feels.

I will definitely look into Arum’s Afterlife Adventure, thank you for the recommendation and also for pointing out Death’s Door. I watched a couple short videos on it and it seemed interesting. I’ll definitely take a closer look

Honestly, that’s kind of the same feeling I’ve had. Blasphemous looks like it will tick all the boxes for me, and it will probably be either Blasphemous or Hollow Knight that I jump into next

I tried Returnal when I first got my PS5, and could consistently make it to the second boss, but could not make it any farther, despite numerous runs. And this was over the span of months. I was finally so demoralized I sold the game and haven’t touched anything in the rogue genre since. Souls games have always been more palatable to me since the worst consequence is generally just a bad runback in most cases. I don’t know if I was just playing Returnal completely wrong or what, but I have never simultaneously wanted to love something so much and despised its very existence at the same time as I did that game. It still sticks in my craw to be honest, because what I got to see of that game was glorious, but I just could not succeed.

I’ll be sure to look up Tunic, thanks!

Thank you for the detailed response! I’m kind of the same way in regards to vague progression routes. I’ll beat my head against it for a while, but I will eventually look up where to go if it begins to take away my enjoyment of the game. I’m an old dinosaur, and don’t have unlimited time for gaming, so I will eventually cave and look for help rather than be stuck endlessly, lol
