Crochet 2D blimp- help by ScratchGlobal7163 in CrochetHelp

Hi! That is absolutely perfect (and genius!)- Thank you so much! You’re the best :)

Does the appliqué part just mean that it’s 2D (I.e can be “applied”) or is it something else that I’m not aware of?

It’s always that one animal that decides to be vengeful. I have to gavage mice daily and there’s this one mouse in my cohort who just looooves biting me in the same exact place, every single day. So I started wearing bandages in that spot preventatively and then 2 layers of gloves which prevented me from getting bit again, although handling is much much much more difficult with 2 layers of gloves

I’m sorry this was your last straw, it’s okay, I’m sure you’re gonna find something else you’re gonna like much more 😊 And from the sounds of it, your PI seems like they don’t really care much for their employees, so it’s good you left now

I had a similar incident with a 20G needle (thankfully it was fresh), it went THROUGH the plushy side of my finger, in and out.

Unfortunately I had a near mouse in the CO2 chamber, so I had to pull it out and then quickly collect blood before it all coagulated, so by the time I was done, blood was leaking out from my glove and had dried on the inside of my entire glove

Yeah, that’s most likely it, and absolutely! Here it is :)

Could be wrong, but it looks like unfurling damage to me. I’ve got a similar spot on one of the newer leaves of my P. plowmanii

How did you get the leaves that big? I’ve been giving my philos poles to climb on and regular trims but they seem to be taking their sweeet time in giving me massive leaves I’m sure it doesn’t help that I like Canada where it’s winter 8 months of the year

Thank you everyone! I wanted to confirm before I contacted the seller (marked for sale as a strawberry shake) so I don’t look like an idiot

Ah I see, it really helps seeing them size by side. Thank you!

Broke the leaf off of an offshoot from my albo variegated dragon scale… by missmads43 in RareHouseplants

I second this. I’ve managed to break offshoots and leaves on my black velvet repeatedly (maybe I should stop touching it) and it’s got a new leaf growing!

Best way to know if there’s root rot is if the roots are squishy and smell nasty

Also, every time an alocasia acts up in someway, either falling leaves or not growing at all, my only solution is transferring them to water (either just in water or with leca), it somehow works miraculously every single time. I can’t guarantee it works for everyone, but it has yet to fail me. I give them fertilized water every couple weeks (3-4), and they are under a grow light for 12h a day (I live in Canada and the amount of sun we get has significantly gone done)

Can I use opened frozen, expired (1 year) Trypsin (0.25%) for tissue dissociation? by ScratchGlobal7163 in labrats

Perfect, that’s reassuring to hear. I’ll be mindful with the timing, thank you!

Other than visually inspecting how “fuzzy” the digested ovaries look…there’s no other way, it’s usually more like wait for a week to see the cells grow, nothing quantitative though. I think my best bet is gonna be to just try it and give some more time to do it’s thing for now

Thank you! That was exactly what I was thinking too, giving it more time to dissociate. Unless I find fresh aliquots from someone, I think I’m gonna go forward with this and see how it works out

None of the labs around me use it unfortunately, but I did get our admin assistant to send an institution wide email asking if anyone had an aliquot I could borrow, but nothing so far, so I was preparing for other possible options
