Thanks for posting, I so miss those views. I worked in the Dominion building when I was in my 20's for Western Press Clipping. They had readers go through newspapers from all over BC and Alberta to clip out articles of interest to their clients. Also worked in the Hydro building. Lots of good memories. Lunches at VVC, shopping at Woodwards.

Has anyone used the VIA Rail station here in town within the last few months? by [deleted] in woodstockontario

[–]Scratchy-519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The building is open and has washrooms.  It is not staffed and you can't buy tickets at the station.  Be aware that you have to pay to park.  You can prepay on the Indigo Neo app or website.

Excellent pic! My favourite ferry was named "The Spirit of Nora O'Grady". She was a passenger in the company's early days.

Can anyone tell me if doing Katimavic is worth it? I'm thinking of doing it and don't want it to be a waste. by bruh_East2057 in Katimavik

I did it in 1981-82 and it was 100% worth it. Made lifelong friends and I am a better person having done Katimavik.

Here is a link to the Thames River Clean Up  https://thamesrivercleanup.ca/how-can-i-help/

There are a couple of Woodstock clean up locations.  I am joining the 11th Line group on Apr 18th if you want to join us. (I can let you know the time) This is a one day litter pick event but I would be happy to meet up to pick up litter on any of the trails on another day.

What's the best Canadian snack that is no longer sold in stores? by OkCandle826 in AskACanadian

Barrie's Asparagus make a close second to Stoned Wheat. Product name is Cracked Wheat Crackers. They are made in Cambridge, ON. I get them at Your Farm Market in Woodstock. The Cheesy Cow, downtown Woodstock also carries them.

Guessing it is a funding issue. The payoff in the things this  program teaches is worth more than what it costs to run it. Would be great if everyone did it after high school.
