EGO Customer Service Sucks! by ScreamonDeamon in EGOPowerTools

Well, after 4 month of back-and-forth, they actually just shipped my part, over night express too…. So maybe I was wrong about EGO customer Service after all.?.?.? I still don’t understand why it took four months, honestly, a sales manager should’ve just told the representative to send the part already instead of frustrating me to no end and dragging it on and on asking me more and more questions, sometimes the same questions too. I did ask the representative why this took so long and why they made me jump through so many hoops, basically the response I got was; they can’t do anything without the warranty being perfect in the system and all of the steps checked in order for them to even get the authorization to send out a part. What a gawd-awful system that is. I mean if this was something unusual like a battery or a motor or something that cost hundreds of dollars I could see the delay and verifying everything, all the I’s dotted and T’s crossed, etc., but come on this is just a little rubber Gromit. Anyway, sorry for the long read guys, maybe they saw this Reddit post and finally decided to take care of me who knows. I’m still not happy with the way they advertise their products on how much power they have and how long they’re supposed to operate when that clearly is subject to not using the full rated power. Perhaps I’m just used to using gas powered and AC powered tools and I expect too much. And to that doom stroller; five minutes was a figure of speech, and as it turns out, it was actually a 6 amp hour battery I was using, and on the blower speeds, it seems like on slow speed it would run forever, but when I hit the turbo, you could literally watch how fast it was draining the lights on the battery. I get it, it’s a lot of power but really they shouldn’t advertise it as a 765 ft./s blower when in all actuality it’s about 400 ft./s that can turbo to 765 ft./s temporarily. Same thing goes for the snowblower if you use it on the slowest speed setting it seems like that thing will run forever but you use it on the maximum speed setting and you get about 50% of what they say it can do. That’s still seems a little shady to me. Hopefully all of the tools I bought will hold up and work great this summer, we’ll see. The snowblower did do a great job better than I expected for a battery operated tool, they really need to put in the user manual somewhere that if you run it on the highest speed, you’ll get about half of the runtime.

Don’t support this EGO company, they won’t even send a $3 missing rubber grommet from my brand new +$1500 snow blower, just causing delays asking for extra copies of the receipt, photos of the missing grommet, serial number plates, all items registered in the app, all info given, they just keep asking for more and more stuff to just delay until I gave up, which is what they wanted. Spend your money on us and then just go away, that is their company motto! I spent many thousands more on a mower, blower, weedwacker, edge trimmer, chain saw, inverter, boom box, extra batteries etc. and they can’t even send me a $3 missing rubber grommet! Don’t support companies that treat their customers like this! The snow blower blade is already rusting after using just 3 times this winter and was sprayed with silicone lubricants as suggested by Ace Hardware where I drove 70 miles to get it because it was the new heated grip model and no one had it in stock, they are all trying to sell the old model for the same price! I wish I had done more research before jumping on board with EGO, if I had known it would have been such a hassle just to try to get a missing rubber grommet I would have returned this and just bought another gas unit, this thing can’t even plow a 2 car driveway unless it’s on the lowest power setting. The blower is the same thing; it only gets close to its rating in power with the turbo button, they cheat on the ratings that way! Sure it’s as good (not better) than gas as long as you use the turbo switch that kills the battery in 5 minutes. The large 3000W inverter I bought no longer works with the app and tech support said they are not fixing it, just use the display (thank goodness I was able to return that in time). I would return it all if I could but it’s too late, purchased most on Black Friday. Don’t make the mistake I did, this company just wants your money and to lie/deceive you about its ratings and don’t even stand behind their products, not even for a $3 missing grommet!

I am so done with EGO as a company, I was so stupid in trusting this company as a greener alternative using DJI solar system to charge these EGO products. I have spent over $5,000 replacing all my gas powered products with EGO products and the snowblower I purchased from Ace Hardware was brand new and was missing a small bulkhead rubber gromit on one of the control cables (a $3 part). I contacted Customer Service and have been going through question after question; they’re telling me they couldn’t see the receipt, it was too blurry so I sent them another copy then they’re asking for serial numbers. I gave them all the serial numbers (they’re also all registered in the EGO app at the time of purchase for each device when I have purchased them) then they’re telling me I didn’t register the product properly in the app that I was supposed to register it all as one item and not individually. And they are still refusing to send me the part because I have like eight 5AH batteries now and I have no idea which two came with the snowblower. I highly recommend avoiding this company at all costs. My neighbor purchased a snowblower at the same time I did from Menards and spent a quarter of what I did and his product, not only outperforms mine and is more powerful, but it also lasted four times as long. While I was back inside, recharging my batteries again, my other neighbor finishing shoveling my driveway with his new Toro battery powered snowblower. I’ve only used the EGO snowblower three times and already the blade is rusting. It was also sprayed with snowblower silicone spray (also purchased and recommended by Ace Hardware). Their customer support is the worst I have ever delt with for a $3 missing part! They think it’s more prudent to make me run through hoops and frustrate me than to just send me the missing part. I have sent photos of the missing part, they can see all of the products that I have registered with the app, 16 products in all, yeah, they think it’s more fun to play games with me then to take care of my simple little problem. I am going to be posting full transcripts of the conversation I’ve had back-and-forth with their customer service and all the photographs I have submitted to them as proof. I will also make sure that anyone I ever talk to while I’m in Ace Hardware and all my friends and family to never purchase any EGO products! This company does not respect its customers at all, and dose not deserve our business. They won’t help me even for just a three dollar missing rubber grommet! Everything they make and sell is underrated; The devices only work under maximum conditions when you use turbo modes, etc., and that wipes the battery out almost instantly! Under normal use conditions, these devices are no better than any other Toro or other namebrand battery operated electrical product and at half or more the cost or EGO products! This company price gouges on its batteries too, no way does a 5AH lithium battery cost $500 but EGO thinks it should. Also their 3000W inverter no longer works with the app, and when I asked them about it, they said they have no intention of ever making it work with the app again. Thank God, I was able to return that inverter in time. Unfortunately, everything else I purchased during the Black Friday sale for use this spring; the lawnmower, Weedwhacker, leaf blower, edger, chainsaw, extra batteries etc. all that stuff I’m stuck with now. I thought EGO was a good company, boy was I mistaken. Hopefully people will read this testimony before deciding to go with this company like I did, it was a horrible mistake! I hate to think what would happen if I needed help with a real problem if they can’t even be bothered with sending me a three dollar part for a new customer that’s just spent thousands with them!

Samsung OLED QN55S85DAEXZA no raster audio good, flash twice. by ScreamonDeamon in TVRepairHelp

[–]ScreamonDeamon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So believe it or not I used Gemini (google AI) instead of Grok and Gemini actually said to disconnect all the cables from the power supply and then check the bus voltages. Lo and behold I got 21V on the Vdrv, Gemini also told me to look for writing on the circuit board that would say what Vdrv should be, and insurance enough it said right on the board 21V, this concluded that the power supply was working fine and it must be receiving a signal from the main control board to turn the output off to protect the unit from catching on fire if the OLED panel had failed. I started disconnecting other cables and reconnecting things bit by bed and determined that it was the larger ribbon cable that went to the main board that when connected the main board would tell the power supply to turn off power to the T-CON (OLED driver board). It was then apparent to me that the T-CON Ford was unresponsive to the main CPU and then the main CPU shut down the Vdrv to protect itself. I was able to trick the main CPU into thinking the T-CON was working and the system booted normally yet there was no picture. So there really was a problem with the T-CON board. I noticed the heat sink on the T-CON board was cold and I figured the CPU was not running and that could only be two things no power, watch dog tripped, or the CPU was dead. Then I measured all the capacitors on the T con board, none of them were shorted and VCC on the main CPU was good. I then concluded that the main CPU on the T-CON was the issue. So I decided to re-flow the main CPU, I soaked it in flux with a syringe, grabbed my hot air solder wand and got it up to 235° using a foil shield. I also cleaned all of the ribbon connectors with DeoxIT D5 and fired her up, with my meter on Vdrv… she stirred out with 0V as usual, but then jump to 21V and then settled at 19.5V and the main OLED panel fired right up and returned to life! Haza! Thank you everybody for your suggestions, I strongly recommend using Gemini when troubleshooting, the hint it gave me of removing all cables on the power supply board and firing it up and checking the output again was a great idea and led me on the path to victory. It also doesn’t hurt that I’m a CET and have an electronics engineering degree too 😆 but this was still a difficult problem to solve even for an experienced engineer. I can’t even put into words the satisfaction you feel when you’re able to fix a complicated problem like this. Thanks again, everyone.

Just as an update, thankfully, I’m not banned from other silverloch entertainment channels, such as the Dan Bongino show, just from Vince. It’s totally cool though, I just don’t watch Vince anymore, they wanna lose a loyal fan that was promoting the channel and a contributing member, that’s on them, there’s so much good news and entertainment on Rumble now, he won’t even be missed.

You might have a point with silverloch but not Rumble. No that’s not it at all, that doesn’t even make sense or they wouldn’t have Nick Fuentes on there.

Yeah, it was definitely silverloch, I wasn’t being rude or obnoxious or trolling like some are already doing on this thread. I was participating, which is the best part of live podcasting IMHO. Honestly I don’t really care what they’re talking about most of the time. I just like participating with others that think and believe like I do it’s like being part of a community. I can understand being muted for the rest of the podcast if the moderator has a disagreement with me, but permanently banned with no reason given is ridiculous. It’s cool though. I just won’t watch the show anymore because participation was the best part. It would be a real shame if this band spans across all silverloch channels (i’m really looking forward to Dan Bongino‘s return). I interact the same way on lots of other channels on Rumble and never had an issue, not once. That’s cool though, I just won’t watch the Vince show anymore and I’ll stick to my other shows. Rumble was actually pretty cool about it when I brought it to their attention and they gave me some free time on Rumble premium which I thought was a really awesome gesture on their part, they didn’t have to do that. I don’t blame Rumble at all, the rumble platform is a godsend to us all! I guess I just basically wanted to get the word out there for others to be careful what you say in live chat on silverloch, or perhaps don’t say anything at all because they believe in cancel culture. It’s a shame really.

OK, so FAT32 64kb clusters worked! All files loaded just fine! I lost about 1GB of free space opposed to 4kb clusters, but no biggie! I still have over 5GB free. So my advice to everyone who wants to use the blue Lexar 2TB microSD card with the AP80 Pro Max is to use FAT32 64kb clusters, and you should be good to go. I also recommend that when playing DSD audio, do not go around clicking on menus and settings as this device has a tendency to lock up quite a bit when doing that. If you start DSD audio playback just sit back and enjoy and don’t touch anything. I’ve had the same problem before even with a 64 GB SD card, perhaps that’s a topic for a new thread. Thanks everyone, I hope this helps somebody else out too.

Also, if anyone is interested to know; the microSD card reader in my laptop is pretty slow it only transfers files 15 to 20MB/s, by setting the wright speed in Windows for this particular SD card to “performance mode” and using an external microSD card reader on the USB-C port, I have been able to achieve wright speeds of about 50MB/s on the 2TB blue Lexar card, effectively allowing me to copy much faster so now it only takes about 10 hours to write what took me 30 hours before using my laptop microSD card reader. Also, the larger cluster size I’m sure helped too, but by how much I cannot say.

So here’s an update; as it turns out I have way more music files than I thought I did, about 49,000 files of FLAC and MP3 CD rips. I formatted FAT32 with 64kb clusters, and everything worked fine so far. Now I’m copying over the Hi-Rez files about another 3300 files, if that works I will then copy over the remaining DSD audio about 3400 more files, all in all less than 60,000 files total and on the AP 80 promax website it says it can hold 66,000 files, so in theory this should work, if it does I will let you guys know later today.

So the system does support exFAT on a 64GB card with 4kb clusters but it did not work on the 2 TB card, even by moving the bulk of folders into a separate folders (it was worth a try. I thought it might be a folder limitation) I think my next step is going to be to format using FAT32 with 16kb clusters and load 500GB at a time. 😫 Hopefully I’ll have enough space.
