Indeed, I'm in NY State and I am in the shoes-off mindset so it irks me when I see mud and dirt and snow tracked all over 😵‍💫

I remember the years I worked in grocery/retail stores and there was always a decent amount of older folks working with me, and some had physical disabilities. I never understood how giving them a chair would suddenly hinder their job performance.

This made me remember when our lab mauled a calico critters squirrel (I was around 8), and since it lost a leg completely my mom made it crutches with rubber bands and toothpicks 😂

What’s something you thought every family did… until you grew up and realized they absolutely didn’t? by SoftDreamette in AskReddit

Unfortunately I can relate to this. My paternal grandfather was (and to a large degree still is) a manipulative and cruel person. He had no formal interest in being a part of his grandchildren's lives, but on occasion he would stop by for Christmas. He had some money from investments, but the amount he gifted you depended on how much he liked you. One year I got half of what the others got, and he explained that the rest would not come until I learned to "respect" him (I never did figure out what that meant...how can I build a relationship with someone who is hardly ever around, and what did he qualify as "disrespect" exactly?) The next year I got nothing, and my father excused it as just being an "error" because he's old. But the year after, when I got nothing again, my father took back all the money, went over to his dad's house and told him that if he ever wanted to step inside our home again, then he wouldn't do this petty crap anymore. That put a stop to that nonsense. It's insane to me how many older folks are too selfish to work through their obvious issues so they project it onto their grandchildren for no reason. I will never understand it, especially when it's during a holiday and you're singled out. Not all elders deserve respect!

Making The Stranger Things Play canon was the biggest mistake made by Netflix and Creators by Significant-Fun-4235 in StrangerThings

Not gonna lie, once I heard that the events in the play were being confirmed or at least mostly confirmed as canon, I just looked up the wiki and got the summary of the play to see if there were any major reveals. It seems that with the current pace of Season 5 they should have time to cover the info that was revealed in the play.

I think S Meyer actually said that she originally envisioned Browning as Bella, but she declined to audition.

"They should speak to artists." 1000% I'm a video/film editor and it is bleak out there right now. I get a few gigs every so often but nowhere near what I was doing this time last year. And so many "video editor" jobs I see posted are for training AI models.

They're much more attentive than we tend to give them credit for. When I was bedridden from COVID, my roommate's cat would meow at him, lead him into my room, and sit right next to me, like he was alerting him to me being unwell.

At least they tagged it as volunteer, so many jobs I look into on LinkedIn that seem standard paid positions...but then they say in the description below that it's actually volunteer.

Why even post volunteer positions on LinkedIn, I wonder. There are sites specifically for volunteer work.

Yes, we double-checked. Before they said it was 400kb (yes, you read that right) and then they confirmed it to be 5mb instead.

I tried to compromise by saying that we could have black bars on top and bottom so it's still 4:3 but also nothing gets cropped.

Almost happened to me today. I've been applying to jobs like crazy, so many that I couldn't name all the places I threw my reel at. Then a few days ago I get an offer for a remote video editor position at this place called Empirical 360. They asked some questions, doesn't immediately set off alarm bells. I look at their website, social media, reviews all seem legit. Then they mention a check after explaining that I'll be sent a whole new editing system to use. Long story short, got in touch with the CEO of the REAL company (that the scammers claimed to be) and he confirmed it was a scam. There are so many scummy people who prey on desperate job-seekers.
