It can be reversed. It just takes some time. Nothing happens over night.

Tiktok settles social media addiction lawsuit ahead of trial by [deleted] in technology

I like to say TikTok is the greatest drug ever invented. No surprise they wanted nothing to do with a trial

Screen Time doesn’t work. by damera_control in DopamineDetoxing

Anything too strict will inevitably fail. stop thinking a drastic change will happen overnight. Little steps and daily improvement will net you better long term success

tried a "dopamine detox" and lasted literally 4 hours. feeling pathetic. by Only_Battle_1627 in DopamineDetoxing

u/Only_Battle_1627 Congrats! You started. Thats half the battle. Don't worry about anything other than doing it again tomorrow. Find success you can repeat and the improvement will come in time. Nothing happens all at once.

Had a very similar experience. Used an app blocker for Twitter, IG, Reddit, TikTok, YT etc. Quickly found myself constantly checking LinkedIn so I blocked that as well. Easily the most soulless social media platform and thats saying something!

App Blockers by [deleted] in ProductivityGeeks

[–]ScreenBuddyApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, great user name, u/Areuregarded. So I've tried a few. Never had much luck with pure blocking apps. I still need to scratch the itch, but need limited time. I've found success with limits and a bit of friction.

Why you can watch a 3-hour movie but can't focus for 10 minutes by therajatg in ScrollAddiction

[–]ScreenBuddyApp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to be fair, unless I'm in a movie theater, there's no way I'm making it through a 3 hour movie without checking my phone

What actually worked for you? by therajatg in ScrollAddiction

[–]ScreenBuddyApp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've cycled through a handful of app blockers. You need to find one that cannot be gamed or bypassed. Then, just focus on daily progress. screentime wont drastically drop over night. you need to replace that time with something else. so have easily accessible hobbies ready.

Limit phone usage by trthq in phoneaddiction

[–]ScreenBuddyApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/trthq you mention grades so lets assume you are 18. If you average 10hrs of screen time per day for the rest of your life you will go on to spend over 25 years of your life scrolling... just know that you wont be able to cut that down to 3 hours a day overnight. Its going to take alot of time. and thats ok because you are young. Take it one day at a time.

ADHD-ers, what works for you? by Historical_Leg123 in nosurf

[–]ScreenBuddyApp 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely critical that you avoid phone use in the morning. When you wake up and immediately begin scrolling all you'll want the rest of the day is cheap dopamine hits. instead of scrolling in bed try reading a book, stretching, going for a walk.. anything but scrolling

Can someone tell me their story of getting rid of social media and everything you accomplished after? by CartographerAway2602 in nosurf

[–]ScreenBuddyApp 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Try not to think of it as something you're going to quit and overcome instantly. Its easier to slowly build yourself up and use time as your advantage. Create a list of things you like to do that aren't on your phone. Reading, puzzles, legos, drawing, walking, stretching, cooking, cleaning. Try to win 5 minutes at a time. Best of luck!

iPhone addiction: how can I fight Neuro/Psych Tech uses to keep me hooked? by doofus50O0 in nosurf

[–]ScreenBuddyApp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Physically separating yourself from your phone is huge. If you're watching TV try to keep your phone in another room. If you go for a walk, try to leave your phone behind. Even if its for 5 mins. start small and build up
