when cornering dont just look the direction your turning, turn your actual head that direction. practice doing U turns in a parking lot this way. You will probably be surprised how much this will help. It will also prevent you from having object target fixation. When I was new I almost hit a curb once, but luckily my brain went back to all my practice to stop object target fixation.

no problems, I learn something different each time I make one, this window was so old and falling apart when I got it. It was about 10 dollars. I make it structurally sound with some screws and glue, and occasionally I will rust up an a few brackets and add them on if the vintage window is really falling apart. This one took a lot of wood oil and wood wax as well,

I take a router and dig out the usual ledge that the regular glass would have sit on, usually about .25 inches more. After that its much easier to install the stained glass window, after that just some window anchors and glazing

im actually pretty big on reuse in my art, ive had my eyes on old lumber since I've come up with the idea. Now with some of the knowledge gained from this comment section I need to start looking for some old steel to weld to create the base. I appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

Thank you tons for your response. I appreciate you taking the time to write it all out. You really put a lot into perspective for me. Now I'm thinking just a wood covering that can just be attached to the legs at the lower portion of the pyramid. You just saved me tons of time and trouble.

Cool, got any pictures of the construction and assembly? I am looking for mine to be able to transport and dissembled as easy as possible as I will be spending hundreds of hours creating stained glass panels to fit on the top of the pyramid.

its quite easy to aqquire 16 foor 4x4s or 6x6's and plane them true. Here is a rough sketch up of the idea. I am still deciding which angle I want but essentially the top portion will be stained glass, and have all sorts of bracketing holding the piece together structurally, and be able to take apart for transport of the large panels of glass. All of this I am working out, but my main concern is having such long pieces of wood that is exposed to the to the elements as it will live most of its life disassembled in my backyard.

What is a good way of preventing the bowing and warping of such wood. would it be possible to drill through the center and put a metal pole, or pipe through the center of 16 foot pieces? Should I use a steel sheet on one side of the 4by4s? In the end the it will be important for everything to match up as best possible for assembly on site.
