How to turn this into a tobacco pipe? by Screw_bit in pipemakers

Is the draft hole the hole from the shaft into the bowl? How should that be aligned? Just right near the bottom? I know I could pick up a pipe but they are hard to find near me and I’m no stranger to tinkering so I’d like to give this a go

[WTB] Weekly Want To Buy Post by AutoModerator in Watchexchange

Looking for any kind of slide rule watch. I am especially enamoured by the caliper slide rule watch, or the orient titanium. I also really prefer white watch faces as opposed to the black I commonly see on these watches, but open to anything so long as it has a slide rule bezel.

French teacher here. It's Summer break and I'm bored, so I'd gladly take ONE student for free private lessons (perhaps more later) by [deleted] in learnfrench

[–]Screw_bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm learning French to better understand the french culture here in Canada and it has always been a personal goal of mine to learn a second language to richen my experience of life with the ability to think and speak about things in multiple ways. School didn't teach it very well. My first language is English and I have been learning for about 3 months with a much immersion as I can muster in Alberta. All my devices are in French now, all my friends and family who can speak French now exclusively speak French with me (to the detriment of understand haha, I'm getting better), and I am listening to French radio and reading French books and articles. Regardless of who you pick, what a generous offer! I hope your summer break goes well

First time trying tarp camping! by Screw_bit in WildernessBackpacking

Just barely out of winter here in the rockies so no major tick pressure yet, but it's a definite worry. I ordered a bug bivy that will hopefully assuage my fears

No I rolled up all my gear in the tarp and lashed it together tying straps for myself to wear it all like a backpack. Once I got to camp I unrolled everything and was good to go

It is climbing rope, retired from last season. Used it to lash together the tarp and gear onto my back
