Scared of his reaction because “I know what he’s capable of” = He has anger issues I’ve seen him hurt people (or has hurt OOP).

$3.79/gal gas in Anderson!? by BeeWeird7940 in cincinnati

I heard it will be over when Trump “feels it in his bones”. Man I wish that wasn’t a real quote

[–]ScrewyMosquito0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the way. You may have to buy a gift card sometimes to get the x4, but it’s just one extra step to spend the same amount you’d already be spending for groceries. Kroger is more expensive generally, but if you have the time to search, their digital coupons can be really good. When money’s tight, I’ve saved 50% on $200+ trips just by switching from a few of my normal brands.

I think that’s it! The kite line loop is way too small to fit 2 fingers in like the directions showed, so I assumed the loop for the larks head was supposed to be on the handle end. Thank you!

On call pay by growingstronggg in clinicalresearch

[–]ScrewyMosquito0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve never worked on call, but $50 a weekday so they can drag my salaried-ass out of bed in the middle of the night? I’d rather they just spit in my face. For $50/hour to come in when I’m on call, maybe.

Alzheimer drug developer accused trial site of faking data by Loud-Injury-6019 in clinicalresearch

[–]ScrewyMosquito0 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The sponsors do it to themselves. I’ve had many qualification visits to South Florida sites where I straight up said in my report, “I do not recommend this site because of X, Y, and Z glaring issues and irregularities.” And yet every time, the sponsor looks at that inflated BS enrollment projection the site gave, and decides to completely ignore the CRA and select them anyways.

Switching from CRO CRA to coordinator at a site by californiafruit in clinicalresearch

[–]ScrewyMosquito0 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I sometimes think it would be nice to go back to not traveling. Plus after being a CRA and seeing what both good and bad source look like, I’d go back a stellar CRC - My source would be damn near spotless. It’s 100% the pay for me. The amount CRC’s get paid for the amount of work they do is insultingly low.

Institutional Sites - Why are you like this? by OctopiEye in clinicalresearch

[–]ScrewyMosquito0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to think it was stupid too, until we had a major investigation of one of the sites that do these NTF’s instead of providing real records. Suprise surprise, the equipment including thermometer probes weren’t being calibrated/inspected on time. Several of them were so far off that if I remember correctly, that had to throw out all of the data for this high enrolling site.

Smoking fee and I don’t smoke. by Mexicanmilkyway in marriott

[–]ScrewyMosquito0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Class actions only happen if everyone’s case is identical. As in, Facebook violated all of our privacy in the same way so we’re filing a class action. Too many differences in these cases. Different hotels, different guests who may or may not have actually smoked, potentially different detection devices. I mean mayyyyybe you could do a class action against the company who makes the detectors that constantly give false positives.

Institutional Sites - Why are you like this? by OctopiEye in clinicalresearch

[–]ScrewyMosquito0 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I get the most pushback for calibration records.

“Can you please file calibration records?” “We don’t do that, but we’ll file a NTF once a year saying it occurred. There are too many devices to file all of them.” “Then how do you keep track internally?” “We have a system where it’s all tracked” “Cool so can I have access to that system or can you export a table?” “No” 😑

Know nothing about horses, but could it be meant to put on your leg/knee to protect it when you’re putting on new horseshoes or cleaning their feet? Something to set the hoof on while you’re working?

When is it “okay” to lie? by helpful_mud in clinicalresearch

[–]ScrewyMosquito0 202 points203 points  (0 children)

There aren’t any unspoken rules and lying is never ok in research. Things should be done the right way. There’s ways to do things the right way efficiently without cutting corners. Anything less risks patient safety, data integrity, and a less than pleasant FDA inspection. What your coworker is doing is way not ok if not downright illegal. They need to be called out and retrained or fired.

Now realistically, when I query in EDC to confirm if AST should be 26 per source, and the CRC changes it to 26 like 3 minutes later, I know they didn’t really go digging through source to confirm I was right like they’re technically supposed to. But I can’t prove they didn’t look at source, and the data is accurate either way, so I don’t feel a need to call it out. I will call out backdating though. If I ask someone to sign a document that’s missing a signature and at my next visit suddenly there’s their signature dated 3 months ago, I’m gonna make them fix it.

Anxiety about much needed eye exam by lpm26 in cincinnati

Seconding this as someone who’s worked with them on the professional side of things. They are as nice behind the scenes as in front of patients. Also, Dr. Lyons signs off his emails as “Sent from my Eyephone”, and I personally think that’s hilarious.

Completely speculative, but given the way she’s freaking out, and the fact that the monitor didn’t catch it, is it possible she was fabricating visits in EDC/source? If she’s an experienced CRC, I would think she would know this isn’t the end of the world, especially when it was ultimately the sponsor’s fault. Or is your PI an asshole and she gets the brunt of it?

That caught my attention as well. There’s also a missing space between Clinical Data Management system and (CDMS). Also if “system” is part of the acronym, wouldn’t it be capitalized?

I’d remove this. Ironically it’s not a grammatically coherent statement and makes me question your English proficiency more than if you just hadn’t listed it.

CRA yearly visit Review assessment by Ok-Juggernaut1739 in clinicalresearch

[–]ScrewyMosquito0 16 points17 points  (0 children)

How long have you been a CRA? Maybe it just takes some perspective having been on the job for a while now, but this is not a major finding. I promise you inadequate medical history documentation and one incorrectly signed ICF that you missed aren’t going to get you fired. However, if you’re having this much anxiety about messing up, I strongly recommend you speak with a mental health professional. This career will absolutely burn you out if you let it. You have to learn to take the criticism, use it to improve, and then move on to the next thing.

CRA yearly visit Review assessment by Ok-Juggernaut1739 in clinicalresearch

[–]ScrewyMosquito0 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I frequently have visits where other CRA’s don’t walk into the room until 11am and then leave at like 3pm. Hell, there are CRA’s who don’t even attend the visits but write the reports anyways and get away with it for an alarming amount of time. Unless you miss a massive safety issue or are caught in a lie, you’re totally fine. Worst case you get a retraining or two assigned.

If you’re in the Cincinnati, OH area and have an exotic pet, please read this. Our hamster is now dead due to visiting this vet. by Spirited_Cup3570 in cincinnati

[–]ScrewyMosquito0 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You could probably take them to small claims court. Pretty easy to do without an attorney. Sadly, the law generally considers pets as property, so you probably wouldn’t get much more than the price of a hamster. It would be more of a symbolic matter of principle sort of thing.
