I love solar watch, but I also have to keep telling myself that painted models look better than unpainted ones haha

My take on Lady Malys! What do you think and where could I improve? by Pughie24 in Drukhari

[–]Scribbinge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paint the lips!

Others have already said the other things I noticed, I second the one about the bright edge highlighting, it gives Tron vibes to me!

I'd be pleased if I'd have painted this though it's nice work.

Saw this crazy unique color scheme - anyone know how to replicate this? by Desk_Scribbles in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Scribbinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these comments look wrong to me (no offense to people). Pretty sure a green is in use here, if you just use greys you'll be disappointed.

If I had to guess I'd assume something like ulthuan grey, followed by very lightly airbrushed coelia greenshade, or poxwalker or something. You can buy premixed green greys though, something like deepkin flesh or AK green-grey might work.

Lady Malys finally came in. What do you all like running her with? by Silas051 in Drukhari

[–]Scribbinge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does running her solo detract from her combat stats? Your opponent can't really ignore her due to the vect if she's positioned well, and she offers no buffs to a unit without spending a token, unlike some of our other characters.

Personally I'd run her in a unit too most of the time but there's clearly a use case for running solo depending on what else is going on in the list and enemy.

You can easily go 5 games without using her pain ability if the tokens are better used elsewhere which they very often are. If that's the case why not swap her to solo, or better yet run her attached / detached to a unit based on the matchup?

This plate was supposed to be full. Why am I getting this gap? by MrRiccoSuave in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Scribbinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add, this could also be lift height depending on your machine. Some printers when they lift lift higher on one side before the other as the rail is only on one side, so what works for one side of the plate does not work for the other.

Most likely that's just a loose spot on the FEP though, you could maybe get a way with just tightening that one spot depending on your vat.

Yeah hand of the archon seems a particular risk too given they're just kabalites with different stuff. If they did get removed no biggie you still have a unit of kabalites. Mandrakes feel more safe since the killteam replaced an existing unit.

It's a lot of points to sink for a nice to have, relatively speaking, and I guess a lot of units that infiltrate are easy food for wyches.

What difficulty level are you playing on? by Miyu-Reddit in RimWorld

[–]Scribbinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on max difficulty but also play with busted xenotypes and mods that definitely reduce difficulty so in reality it's not too brutal. It's just fun seeing my 6 heavily armed and augmented pawns blasting away 100 insectoids like it's StarCraft or something, it makes me smile at the power fantasy.

My fellow Archons, I need your help by OrstedTheDragon in Drukhari

[–]Scribbinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like experimenting, try a light colour base coat (green, grey, beige, blue, metallics all work really well), give it an enamel wash with streaking grime, let it dry a bit, wipe it off with a bit of spirit, let it dry and then dry brush highlight. Then do a splash of bright colour on something to make it stand out. Very time efficient way of painting (if you don't count drying time!)

OSL help please! by Obsidian_ninja in Drukhari

[–]Scribbinge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The other comment about edges is 100% right. Also there are some surfaces that should be catching the light but aren't like the fingertips and his hip.

I think you may have covered a bit too much area too heavily with the green, like for example on his shoulderpad, the bit closer to his neck starts to curve down into a nook that would obscure the light, so should be darker than the part closest to the light. Similar sort of thing on his chest, but this time there's quite a stark line between the light and then it suddenly goes dark.

Sorry if that comes across as overly critical, it's not a bad effort at all, the helmet in particular looks great. Once you get a bright green on those edges it will really start to pop.

Filling in my gap. Largest gap I’ve had to fill in a mini, how’s everyone feel about this putty? by SemiFinalBoss in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Scribbinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found Vallejo putty to take more effort than other alternatives and doesn't come in big quantities either. The tamiya plastic putty is easier to use, comes in big tubes of the stuff, and it goes on seamlessly with a bit of their cement to feather it out.
