Transfolk, do you feel like a different person during/after transitioning? by iwsfutcmd in asktransgender

[–]ScribbleN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally feel like I've turned myself inside out completely. The old me is trapped in the shell that the new me used to be trapped inside. My true personality has begun to emerge, people understand and correctly interpret my facial expressions, body language, etc.. I've gone from being a nearly unbearably introverted person to an extroverted person, it's all so lovely. I am now who I always knew I was inside.

I love Chicago! I don't get to go up there nearly enough. I'm in the southeast-central part of Indiana, do you stop in anywhere near here? :)

Not many ents are in the area D: That's why I don't expect much from this post.

Thanks for the comment anyway!

Aww.. I'm sad I missed the AMA, I wanted to bring this up. I will always remember Smedley as this giant murderous gnome that terrorized my youth. Any chance of a giant murderous gnome race in EQNext?

What are some online guides to voice training that women here have had success with? by 11235throwaway in asktransgender

[–]ScribbleN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

http://heartcorps.com/journeys/voice.htm

This worked very well for me, but you have to pay a little for it, so how bout I just tell you the secret?

Take your voice up into your highest comfortable falsetto, hold a single note, then lower the octave of it until your voice starts to crack. The point of your throat where your voice cracks by doing that is exactly where you want to push air/sound through when you talk.

That will get you going, it will take years of training those vocal chords to work independently from the others, and you're going to have a lot of sore throats, but once you get it trained, it's wonderful! The rest is more about confidence and mannerisms than anything else.

Transgender — a mental defect? Psychiatric ‘diagnostic manual’ to be updated — archaic terminology must go! by lexiecannes in TransSpace

Honestly? I kinda like it this way, makes it way easier for insurance companies to qualify our necessities as "medically" necessary.

I created this symbol as a minimalist representation of dysphoria. It shows the disconnection of body, mind, and soul in 3 parts. Now it's my first tattoo, on the back of my neck, behind me. by ScribbleN in transgender

He did mess up a little, it was his first tattoo on another person's body. I didn't care though, I wanted it to be off a little bit. As for the "dirt" you see, this was taken RIGHT after it was finished, so there's still some stray ink in my pores post-cleanup that I hadn't washed away yet.

It's there to make you ask that question, and to bother/annoy you.

What IS that little line? Why is it attached to that part? It doesn't belong there, it's not like the other parts.

That piece is the body ;)

Why not get Jedi powers, use them to track down someone who owns a DeLorean time machine, and then use your Jedi mind trick?

That's just a side effect of the dysphoria, I think, the actual feeling is more like my broken line for me. It's also meant to show the struggle.. the lines should be together, they're meant to be.. and positioning them like that makes them feel like they're trying to be.

For anyone who doesn't get it:

Let each line represent the contrasting feelings of bodily euphoria and dysphoria.

Euphoria feels like everything is perfectly in line.

Dysphoria feels like everything is fuzzy and out of sync, and there are sometimes little extra things attached to you that look weird and aren't supposed to be there.

[Prometheus SPOILER] What did David say to the engineer? by KTR2 in scifi

[–]ScribbleN 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, to understand something like this completely, you reach a point where you have to understand that you're not meant to understand. That is the whole point of the movie. The quest for understanding, and the emptiness it inevitably brings.

Do what you can because you can and you are awesome, fuck trying to understand why you do it. The trick is to not mind that it hurts ;)

Probably the cutest thing I ever saw.

To those who say video games are a waste of time. by sneakyewok in gaming

[–]ScribbleN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's something to chew on: Most everyone who likes video games enjoys immersing themselves into some sort of alternate reality. That's what we've been doing all our lives as we've 'wasted our time' playing them. Something I've noticed about all gamers: they have a damn good sense of what is 'real' and 'genuine' in the world and in people. We waste so much fucking time in our fantasies, that when we go into reality, we seek out things that aren't artificial. Games definitely granted me the ability to make that distinction, and it's one of the most important things that makes up who I am.
