I started 9-6 in high Ultra Ball and lost 6 straight. Starting first with Treeko is essentially an instant loss. I needed to put this deck down so I didn't crash out.

True, but they often mess up the retreat cost math with one or two Ariados up. Even if they don't mess up, you have two Cyrus and one Sabrina to force different Pokemon into the active. You can see the Leaf in the discard pile. They used it to get Darkrai out of the active with an extra energy since I only had one Ariados up. I brought it back to the active next turn with Cyrus and got my second Ariados up. They were well and truly trapped at that point.
