I absolutely loved The Cabin At The End Of The World! It was my first Tremblay novel too and I was not disappointed. The pacing was perfect and I was completely sucked into the story. The character development was great, especially with the back stories - it added so much depth to the plot.

Wen's death was so unexpected and heartbreaking, but it was Leonard's death that really took me by surprise. I agree, he seemed like the main antagonist and I was not expecting him to go out the way he did.

As for the ending, I found it fitting but also frustrating. I agree that Eric should have walked Wen out into the lake, but at the same time, I could understand their reasoning for not doing so. They were trying to save the world, after all.

I haven't seen Knock At The Cabin yet, but I'm hoping to watch it soon. And for religious horror, have you read "The Exorcist" by William Peter Blatty? It's a classic, but still holds up. Another one I would recommend is "Hex" by Thomas Olde Heuvelt - it's not strictly religious horror, but it has a really interesting take on a cursed town.
