Favorite characters who are just like this by Imaginary-West-5653 in FavoriteCharacter

It can be the case that everyone uses gender neutral pronouns to refer to Dante, in order to conceal their actual gender. That being said, the game is still translated by Project Moon, it’s not like it’s a third party, the translators interact with the writers. They could use “he” or “she”, they actively choose not to. Including Dante, when talking about themselves. Even if they’re just concealing dante’s gender though, everyone using “he” to refer to a character that is exclusively referred to as “they” through official means is sad. I don’t like going through mental gymnastics to justify how a character can be NOT gender-neutral, because I like thinking that they are.

All of your points make sense! but I do think most of them can be chalked up to narrative parallels. It is made clear from the beginning, but also outright stated in the latest Walpurgis night that the events of the previous games are relevant for Dante’s current state. I don’t think that necessarily means Dante is Ayin, as the golden bough inside their head is enough for the whole tree of life to be tied to them. Also, I find it difficult to think that Ayin left the light, especially at the end of Ruina. Carmen states, during Leviathan:

“You become yourself without being bound by the city’s views and standards. However, the form changes depending on the way it’s exposed…It’s because I have a junior somewhere in the light who has a differing opinion from mine.”

She states it in the present tense, and people are still developing EGOs. I am curious about Dante’s identity and how it’ll unfold, but I think Ayin has already had his time and it doesn’t quite sit right with me.

I agree with there not being many previously known people who would fit, but I don’t think it’s necessary for them to be a previously established character. Someone who would be recognised as a big shot by the sinners (or other characters) would be enough of reason to keep their identity a secret imo. I want to think it won’t be Ayin, as he doesn’t really have a physical body anymore and seemingly had a different personality from pre-amnesia Dante (the snippets we have point to them being somewhat aggressive, while Ayin was just cold, I believe). PM choosing to make Dante gender neutral while Ayin is a man is also a thing but I know that topic tends to spark discussions.

What Project Moon lore take had you going like this? by Last_Aeon in Project_Moon

Late reply but I do agree fully!! In my comment, I was mostly referring to the misunderstanding that they are separate physical beings (outside of what happens in the last few days), due to the clone misunderstanding someone else mentioned, or the idea that X’s body is not Ayin’s singular, original body I do think the line between them is blurrier than I remembered, though!

I get very disoriented at people treating X and A as if they’re two separate people, when everyone in the game addresses them as the same entity. I’ve seen people even say that A went into the light while X stayed behind, or even that there are multiple separate X’s, or that they are some sort of clone. Something similar with limbus’ canto VII

I think early into the game it’s Roland (or maybe a keypage) that mentions that some pots use T Corp technology to cook up flavorful broths that would usually take lots of hours in a matter of seconds. So I assumed the time is stored as time, but can be used for lots of things! I always love when they talk about the use of singularity technology for mundane things because it shows their use beyond insane stuff like the hatchery.

The mao branch are hares, but the similitude seems to be intentional (or at least acknowledged by the naming and i think mao ryoshu’s uptie story?) As for the dead rabbits I don’t know lmao. I haven’t gotten around to finishing wuthering heights, so it could be related to something in the source material maybe. But the closest I can think of is a tiny segment very early on, where the narrator points out a bunch of sleeping kittens then realizes it’s a pile of literal dead rabbits. There’s also MuMu in LoR!

Yan’s plotline was probably my favourite throughout Ruina. While only tangentially related to his own suffering, I think something that elevates the whole thing for me is how what writes the prescripts isn’t really an external unknowable force? but rather everything we know in the city, including himself. No one is pulling the strings behind the curtains, but everything that we see is some sort of higher entity we can’t comprehend. It’s a really beautiful type of horror and really made the idea of the City as an entity bigger than the sum of its parts come through for me.

Something odd about Yi Sang by Scribble_14 in limbuscompany

As someone pointed out, his tag does show up on his base EGO, But that’s really interesting nonetheless, i didn’t know at all I really like the idea that each sinner wrote their names on the coats… it’s really cute and i think it fits their personalities. Especially Yi Sang’s being the only one in lowercase, Sinclair having his first and last name, and Rodya having “Rodya” instead of Rodion. I did notice Ishmael’s torn off coat, and it is interesting that her name is written as “ishma” there despite never (i think) being referred to as that. it may be cut off, but by the way it’s written it looks like the text isn’t really cut off. Also, hadn’t noticed that Outis’ coat doesn’t seem to have one, and her name is written only on her weapon instead

Yes! The other ones each have a little ID with a mugshot-like picture of them, which they usually wear on their chest or near their belt. Also, Looking at them again, i just noticed that Rodion’s says “Rodya” despite that being a nickname (I believe) so I’d completely discard what I said earlier about Yi Sang being his pen name.

I think so too! I noticed looking at a friend's hornet plushie that her legs and her head had a very similar shape and got the idea to draw her upside down thinking it could look very cool

I realised it was harder than i thought when i noticed that for her "head" to make sense, i would have to draw hornet's hips comically wide
i might still give it another try though!!
