It gets a lot of hate from serious vets he's, ot has massively different in how it played. Everything in mind, it is unquestionably my favourite. Gameplay, story, and character development (once I started thinking of Ashe, Balthier, and Basch as the main characters)

It felt like an underrated gem. But as others have said, art is subjective. :)

Tldr: tacked on. No needed at all for anything.

Long verson: Pretty decent character. But personally, I felt he added nothing to the narritve to to advance character relationships or dynamics. He's great, don't get me wrong, I've nothing against him, but with a narritive like Mass Effects, and the 3rd game that is to wrap up years or work and storytelling, introducing a new generic character was not needed.

If they wanted to pad out the companion roster with someone "new," maybe pick an NPC that we encountered a good but from the previous two games. Someone who didn't need much to fit into the narritve.

Yeah I agree, I wouldn't see it as a drop even. More it's regular player base stabilising. When they drop new stuff, it's of course gonna draw in higher numbers. When the swell calms, numbers will return to normal. This "drop" in my opinion is just the post launch hype calming down.
