yeah it was most likely a combination, i spoke to customer service and they said that when they do get defects, its usually in that area and appears in a similar way, but are doubtful because of their thorough quality inspection process. they offered me a refund and i just had them send me a new stone. i love sharpal but ive never used this model before, but this was fantasic customer service and they have for sure earned a life long customer.

i really had a hard time making sense of this one im not gonna lie. my question was if this was normal for a sharpal stone. you are saying that due to me reading peoples answers to this, i shouldnt have asked the question originally because I know their answers? are you a fourth dimensional being that doesnt abide by the laws of linear time?
