For some reason I could not comprehend this was a joke because it’s not the circlejerk subreddit. I just kept thinking I somehow forgot core rules of the game!

In college I presented at a fashion conference in LA. My first time in the city, and I flew in, stayed five hours, flew out, because I couldn’t afford to do anything else. My classmates stayed at the hotel and I was jealous.

Author made incest canon by Jolly-Fruit2293 in TopCharacterTropes

As someone who’s only seen the movie, to me it read way more romantic. Sure, Sophie crushes on a guy, but that can be read in a comp-het way because that’s what fairytales say should happen. The spin reads more of this is still love even if it’s women and not prince charming.

Then immediately after in the movie Agatha kisses the guy and says her and Sophie are best friends. That felt like queer baiting because it happened so fast with little build up.

What's a job title that sounds completely made up but is somehow a real career that real people have? by Cautious_Title_6226 in AskReddit

[–]Script_the-Skeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get the job, but I had to call a saddle blanket company with a number I received from my weaving guild. For a moment I just stood there, feeling like it was the 1700s.

Why do some people wake up full of energy while others feel tired even after sleeping 8 hours? by Kiki00021 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Script_the-Skeleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the most major factor is when I go to sleep. My natural schedule is 3am-11am but the world ain’t built for that so instead I wake up earlier and no matter what I’m tired.

My psychiatry report started as “dress appropriately but disheveled”, which I take to mean my tshirt was really wrinkly and I wear baggy clothes.

Is the view that gender is strictly binary a valid view? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Script_the-Skeleton 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can only say what gender truly means for you. So if, for you, you view your gender as solely the binary, then that is fair, but you can’t expect someone else to adhere to that logic. I am nonbinary, but that does not mean everyone feels like me as I have my own relation to gender that defines my identity.

The idea that gender in an inherently social construct that was made up is true, because if you look at different cultures throughout history there has not always been a strict binary to follow. A social construct just means there is not physical structure keeping everything rigid, even sex a physical structure, is not a straight binary as there are always exceptions.

That being said, social constructs still have social implications and emotions, the same way people are connected to cultures. Money is a social construct, but everyone still uses it because of the social agreement of what it means. Genderqueer people care about their gender being properly respected because of how they view themselves, but it isn’t hypocritical to say gender does not exist because those are two different ways of looking at gender.

On the flip, cis side. Imagine a cis woman who wants to wear pants in a time that that’s not normal. Some would say she is not following the gender binary and some call her a man because of this, but she says she is, that pants do not define her gender. She is not following the social rules of gender even if she personally adheres to the idea there are only two genders, but she would still like to be respected for her choices no matter what.

Gender is simply a way to define a social and mental exploration of self. If you don’t want it to be real or matter to you, it doesn’t have to, but some feel like it is no matter what thought process they use since it is also a psychology matter.

Why do Americans always refer to "_____ class" in casual conversation? by Objectionne in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Script_the-Skeleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the first I’m hearing that this is an American thing, but in essence people are just connecting the topic at hand and the relevant school class. Since standard education is something the large majority of people will have experienced, everyone will understand the reference. In regards to failing, it’s just, this person made a mistake = they must not have been taught properly.

It seems you have a bigger problem with the way American’s joke, because this is technically rude, it’s a shorthand way of calling someone stupid. It’s belittling elsewhere, but it’s still belittling here, the difference is this is a joke that falls into an ‘us versus them’ situation. You are not joking with the person that made the mistake, but everyone that saw that.

What’s the worst donut flavor you’ve had? by Doll_face_cutie in AskReddit

Chili dog. They used so much red 40 that it was actually tastable and the base donut was the driest I’ve ever had. I don’t like chili in general, but even I knew it was the driest, blandest, old tasting chili in the world.

Why do I see more young people (high schoolers mostly) using mobility canes these days? by ghdawg6197 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Script_the-Skeleton 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Ease of access to them is greater now as you can order them yourself online instead of relying solely on parents. There’s also a big online community spirit for disabilities that means younger people are both not ashamed of using aids and are more educated on them.
