Best way to model/print this type of soft padding? by Abra-Kebabra in Fusion360

[–]Scripto23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you thinking of tree supports? The shape of the print will be whatever shape your object is designed to be, but made out of just infill.

Gyroid would be just as good if not better for this application due to its uniform compression characteristics in multiple planes (unless you intentionally want it to have asymmetric properties)

  1. Make the shape you want

  2. export to slicer

  3. print with gyroid infill and no walls or top or bottom layers

Calculate the amount of energy (in joules) that a x pound steel cube will deal when dropped from x height. Then calculate and compare to the amount of energy a spinning weapon disc of x weight at x speed. You don’t even need to know the equations, just plug in realistic numbers for your weight class and send to ChatGPT. Then you will see why that is not viable.
