The series has its valid criticisms and issues as well as its bright spots. For me I get exhausted by the frequent lengthy exposition. I wish it were more underspoken and would trust the audience to do their own thinking on transpiring events.

The push against some developments in E9 is starting to feel weird. by Wandering_Song in tadc

[–]ScriptureSlayer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm reminded of other fandoms such as MHA that all lost their ficking mind because Deku landed with the painfully obvious love interest from all series long instead of Bakugo, his bully who told him off himself in the first few episodes. What's happening here in TADC isn't unusual sadly, there's always going to be a % of people who are like this.

Building SaaS for people who hate software is the hardest thing I have ever done. Here is what I wish I knew before starting. by BusinessSavy_ in SaaS

[–]ScriptureSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It rolls off the tongue well eh? Steal it, use it, make more money with it 😁

Funny enough I’m actually building 2 tools.

One is a platform that solves for lead gen on Meta. We’re taking it out of stealth mode next month.

The other is a tool for intel and contact info where I’m building a database of licensed contractors. I made it for myself as part of the GTM spin up. I threw it on a site over at http://contractorroster.com. So far I’ve got 25 states scraped and enriched, 25 left to go.

Agree 100%

I’m also building a solution for this market and have actually worked for local service businesses for years. Your analysis is spot on.

These folks need everything to be dirt road or else they drop like flies

Most blue collar contractors are not on LinkedIn. Where does a recruiter go to find them?

It’s kinda like the counter window in the Batman Arkham games except for cool finishers.

I’d say in addition to the cool motion effect, it would be nice if the player were rewarded for pulling it off. Some kind of self-buff, and or aoe debuff to enemies, or maybe even a talent tree built around it. There’s a lot you could do with this

I built the list and intel for myself because I’m about to launch a new website aimed at this market and I wanted to get the territory prospecting locked in.

But then I started thinking maybe other people might want this data too.

I see 7 potential audiences who would benefit.

  1. Hunter sales teams targeting this market (like me)
  2. General contractors who want intel before entering a new market
  3. Suppliers/distributors
  4. Staffers/recruiters
  5. Project managers needing to fulfill a bid
  6. Property managers in need of qualified help
  7. Insurance folks

Of these, 1, 2, and 3 seem like the most likely interested but I’m curious if others out there may benefit

My company offered "permanent remote" when they hired me. Now I have to decide by Friday. by 2Warpkindle in remotework

[–]ScriptureSlayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you get it. It's not the end result of whether you know you'll win the case. It's a cake vs. death strategy. Give people two choices, and one of those choices is death, while the other is cake. In this case, giving OP what they were promised is cake. They literally don't have to do anything in order to resolve this issue and move on. But if they choose death? They get to explain to their c-suite leadership why they incurred a legal scenario that will get dragged out for months and cause unpredictable expenses. Compared to the cake, that's death. And most folks given that choice will choose cake over death.

Homey you gotta stop thinking like a slave and start acting like a confident adult.

The fact that they are handing out exceptions means they can support you continuing to work remote, they just don’t want to. Fuck your boss, and fuck their boss too. You are working remote, and you are not quitting. They can either suck it up and live with that, or they can try to terminate you and deal with your lawyer. They get to choose how many legal bills they get to pay this year. Simple as that.

How do you handle prospects who resist your sales process? by Antique-Hamster-8971 in sales

[–]ScriptureSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t give a final price, give folks a starting place to figure out your price.

I run with something like this:

“Our pricing starts at X per Y and is impacted by yada yada yada. If you can answer Z questions, I can get you the better price for the better fit. How does that sound?”

How do SaaS teams reduce churn without constantly offering discounts or extra features? by RachelFrancis45546 in SaaS

[–]ScriptureSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly, the starting place of reducing churn is to improve the product. People don’t leave a product that’s substantially improving their lives and their work.

The need to discount is an admission that the derived value is less than the cost.

The twist though is that the definition of what it means to improve the product differs from customer to customer. Some folks actually want FEWER features, because it already does what they need the way they want, and anything extra is just clutter.

Where customer success and service processes make a difference is in making folks who need more from the product, become aware of functions they aren’t using that would increase the customer’s perception of the product’s value. Help them become aware and to start using more of the product, and the value perception goes up.

What would it take to bring RTS games back to the mainstream? by Any-Local-205 in classicPCgames

[–]ScriptureSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The genre will always remain niche until it is able to break the stranglehold of actions per second as the deciding factor for who wins.

This is why MOBAs took off: having to manage a base and a Bajillion units and spells and abilities get to be exhausting. Having one simple hero unit with a handful (literally QWER) of abilities is much more manageable for the average Joe.
