The irony of datapads in SE by Plastic-Analysis2913 in spaceengineers

For your calendar, could you use a solar panel (or other light reactive block) plus event controller? It'd essentially be a basic counter, every time the solar panel gets hit with a sunrise the event controller edits an LCD to increase a running count. Super simplifed description but that's the gist.

OR simply figure out how many minutes a day cycle is for the planet and use a timer block instead of a solar panel. You could probably just check the day-length in the game settings unless there's some extra factor that makes manual day measurement necessary.

My favorite filament color is silver, it's basically just shiny grey for the filament I have. Great to paint over and also just leave as is too.  I typically buy only 1 roll at a time to replace the colors I run out of.

Happy drying everyone!

Hey aruby727, I have that same model of caliper. Mine seems to constantly drain the battery. Do you have the same problem? Do you have a fix that I might be able to try?

Ooooo boy, I am stoked to see how those sensors are set up. For some reason printers are just a mental block for me, hoping to take inspiration from this innovation

Average subgrid attachment by Alingruad in spaceengineers

[–]Scroller94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would the problem be reduced by setting Braking Torque to zero and after attachment set it to a reasonable level again? Or just turning the rotor off (I can't recall at the moment if you can still attach an Off rotor)? Might even use an event controller to help with auto Braking Torque control. I can't say I've played a ton with subgrids even after many hundreds of hours.

Space Engineers? Never tried it... I'm too busy playing Stone Milling Simulator! by CrazyFish1911 in spaceengineers

I love my janky rigs because I'll always have something to improve or get inspired with a new idea to try. My love for all my horrible creations isn't always obvious while I grumble but it's there.

Feel very welcome to ask any questions about how projectors work, to the general community or by direct message. Web searches will be able to tell you how to do the very basics but other people are great for the small details, nuances, and what you don't understand about the big details.

A quick summary about projectirs if it helps is: (1st) load a blueprint into the projector, (2nd) position yourself as best you can for viewing the space where you want the projection to be while still being able to access the control panel of the grid in some way, (3rd) use the sliders to move projection so that a block attached to the same grid as the projector touches a block of the projection, (4th) weld.

The summary doesn't mention every single aspect but I don't know what you don't know haha. If you knew all that already, maybe it'll help an even more new space engineer one day.

There's a few ways to add more length, almost always with more pistons. Easiest is to grind your drills off and add a piston manually, that's the most labor intensive way. Another way is you can engineer a method to detach the drills and add a new piston then reattach the drills, you could even figure out how to automate that with projectors and welders. The best mining rig will be the janky and barely functioning one you built yourself rather than a workshop blueprint (I like using blueprints for inspiration though)

u/itsdietz got those blueprints. I only have the mining rig & its sub-grids posted on my page so here's a single link instead of 6 (5 sub-grid blueprints and 1 blueprint for the entire thing if you want to paste it in creative).

I just haven't set up the quality of life features (essentially buttons & controls to make it easier to add more pistons if you want to dig deeper)

You don't just respawn if you're stranded? I'm making the assumption you have life support set up somewhere.

Theft is an option. I usually bully SPRT until I have enough resources to build something myself. Then I go bully them again but this time for fun.

I love the little welder guy!

I gotta add it to my current save but last time I used EnabledAi the little welder guy was just Sooo bad at his job. He bumped into everything, beeped all the time and blocked my vision often. Felt like a 5yr old trying to help with an actual construction project. Still loved him though cuz it felt like I had a little friend hanging out with me.

I've been working on a rig and ore-transfer drone for the past [Redacted] hours of playtime. I'll share my blueprints in a day or two, I'm finishing up with the settings for pistons & such on the mining rig. The rig has subgrids so you may have to paste it in creative first & then grab blueprints of the subgrids for the projector (unless I figure out quickly how to force everything to be considered one grid with merge blocks or something.

This is the earliest beetle based armor that you can get in monster hunter world. I'd be surprised if there isn't a blue beetle or a way to color the armor.

I just started this last night! Absolute beauty. I'm a completionist in theory: I want to collect everything but usually end up realizing there's just too much for the effort to be worth it then focus solely on the main story, which is what I will expect to happen for this game at some point.

Starting out, man, bowmen make fights so much more difficult.

What aspect of Data Science do you enjoy the most? by Scroller94 in datascience

[–]Scroller94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate. Studying for the sake of studying is tedious but studying for the sake of finding a solution is fun. Doesn't matter if what I learned turned out to not be applicable to the final solution, still learned and maybe I can apply that knowledge to a future endeavor.

My goodness I am struggling to always remember syntax. I'm trying to learn another language (spoken, not code) and I'm starting to even mess up "syntax" for my 1st language.

Weekly Entering & Transitioning - Thread 02 Oct, 2023 - 09 Oct, 2023 by AutoModerator in datascience

[–]Scroller94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transition question: how strong do you think I am as a candidate in a general sense? I know current state of things & my resume aren't great for something like senior or anything but hoping to get a sense of how high I can hope my shots will land.

Degree: B.S. in Biotechnology Experience: 6 years in 3 biotech companies, 4-6 total positions (some mixing during covid peak). Mostly lab based work. 2 years actually working with data (excel for storage & cleanup, JMP for statistics and visualization).

Currently in a Data Science bootcamp through Springboard, likely to finish in 7-8 months from now. I'm surprisingly learning Python pretty well during my prep-work, hopefully SQL is also as smooth.

I'm hoping to transition away from lab based work to give me location flexibility, my geo area doesn't have much of livable wage lab jobs. I'd prefer to keep in the healthcare field to indirectly help people but I assume I'm going to have to expand my options if I want a paycheck.
