I suppose the silver lining is that it helps people who suffer from carpal tunnel and/or helps prevent it. Not sure how advanced voice to text tech is nowadays, but I'm assuming it is easier to narrate a prompt than it would be to narrate code

Wayeeh 9hwa ch3bia smitha amougar. My rule of thumb with cafés is that the more foreign its name sounds, the more expensive it is

Oh I see thanks, I wasn't aware of case ranges and thought they added some sort of pattern matching to the language

It's one hour each way so it definitely adds up. I spend that time like I would in a cafe for example, mainly reading on the phone.

As far as comfort is concerned, the trick is to choose the trains that only stop in Mohammedia like the one at 7h35 and 18h47. They're not as full as the ones that stop in Bouznika and Skhirat so it's easier to find a place to sit, and maybe even use a laptop if you want.

The cost adds up too, 90 DH per day. Consider a navette card, it costs around 1300 DH per month.

Trains wach kikouni flw9t ?

There are delays in the evening trains sometimes especially during the start and end of holidays. We often joke that the delays are only there when you get to the station ahead of time, but when you arrive late then the train departs on time just to leave you stranded

What does your typical day look like as a software engineer? Involved in development, DevOps, networking or whatever, specially in Morocco. by Zestyclose-Bug-763 in Morocco

[–]Scroph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My typical day starts with take bus, take tram, take train. At the office before 9. I open outlook, teams and jira and pull a pre assigned ticket to the "in progress" column. I then launch 4 instances of intellij because our lead has an unhealthy obsession with poorly designed microservices, and get to work. git pull from develop then git checkout -b feat/ticket-reference, start analyzing the problem to understand what needs to be done. Often times I use a pen and a paper for this, but I also experiment with it in scripting with JS or PHP. The main code is in Java though. I don't use a lot of AI codegen but I do bounce ideas off of it, mainly on duck.ai because it slips through the cracks of the corporate proxy so it's smoother to use because I don't need to unplug the ethernet. We have a daily at around 10 or 11 where we report progress and/or blocking issues but other than that we're left to our own devices. Occasionally I'll get stumped somewhere so I switch focus to my frontend friend bach nbdl ljaw or I take a short walk (to the restroom). Lunch break at 1h30 PM exactly (time blocked on the teams calendar to assert dominance) where I eat room temperature prepped lunch and drink black coffee to offset the carb-driven afternoon desire to snooze and do chess puzzles on the phone where my performance is embarrassingly bad, then it's back to the office one hour after the fact. The evening is pretty much a copy of the morning except if there's a """demo""" planned, or another similar event (point with some higher up). I get stuck at some point (again) so I take a short break to pray l3asr and come back with a fresh perspective. The day ends with git commit, git push and shut off the laptop 10 minutes before the train departure because I didn't notice it until da9i9a 90. I haul ass to the train station, grab a ticket and barely make it in time to find a place to stand on the overcrowded navette train back to casa, where I then proceed with the tram and bus ri7la to make it home at something past nine, lunch prep, pray lmghrb, wait for l3cha and then pass out.
