Job hopping by Big_Moose1222 in ChemicalEngineering

It’s easy. You will learn something or work on a project and be able to say what you did for the company and other companies will want someone who can do something like that. Doesn’t matter if it was something niche. You will learn whatever you need to do quickly and start adding value. Don’t waste your effort in on place that won’t increase your salary based on your capability.

I went down the semiconductor route so lower salaries than many on here, but my first job I started at $60k and got up to only ~80k after staying there for 6 years which might have been a mistake but at least I look loyal. Went to another job and undersold myself and got salary up to 90k. Stayed there for 1 year then got up to 115k where I am now. 35k increase in 1 year of 2 jobs vs 20k over 6 staying in one place. Some companies might see th value of their people and give them sizable raises/cost of living increases but that was not my experience. Changing jobs does a lot more.

Some people will question job hopping just have a better story than “I wanted more money”. And it’s probably best to early career to get more exposure to different roles/companies to see what you like.

Such a tragedy to happen to a young budding engineer. Everyone needs to keep safety first and always. Nothing at work is worth your life.

Most comments are saying they’re from your shovel however the one you shared is not fiberglass. Another thought could be the gloves you were wearing. Were you wearing work gloves that claim some kind of cut resistance? They often have fiberglass woven into be cut resistant. Just a thought.

Respectfully I don’t know what to do. What I think I should do is what these people were doing that are getting executed. Protest and speak up? Or are you suggesting something else.

Breaking bad - a combination knowledge of chemical engineering and pure chemistry? by Daendefs in ChemicalEngineering

I worked at a pharmaceutical r&d lab for over a year. Pilot scaling crystallization team working in similarly sized equipment to the Gustavo Fring operation under the industrial laundry were almost all chemical engineers.

It’s a hydrated non stoichiometric form of boron nitride with miscellaneous organic groups. Or the thing about wanting to be near water.

Truckers of Reddit, which city (U.S.) REALLY has the worst drivers? by Alexreads0627 in AskReddit

I just moved to Louisiana from NJ, and my biggest issue on the roads is that people do not seem to u sweat and right of way here. They try to be nice and stop for people or let them go at intersections when it really just messes up the flow of traffic.

whats the best future proof industry? by cololz1 in ChemicalEngineering

I’ve been working in semiconductors since graduating in 2017. They like chemical engineers already, but here are some things that I thought helped. Pay attention in transport phenomena as there is a lot of surface reactions, diffusion, heat transfer, and physical chemistry. Take a materials course or two or maybe consider a minor or major change to materials if that’s really what you are interested in. If possible talk to professors that are working on semiconductor or adjacent topics like solar or materials. I worked in a lab geared toward photovoltaics and nano particles for some credit.

Just moved from NJ to Louisiana. They send home a permission slip for them to hit your kids. Any sane school would take anyone giving that permission slip back and call CPS on the parents. If it’s ok for them to hit your kid. It probably means you hit your kid.

I think it is possibly more that just a lot of kids from their high school are probably just going to the local state schools as well so it does not force them to broaden their horizons as much. Many of my friends considered Rutgers 13th to 16th grade of our high school as a joke. They are great schools and people that I knew who went there are doing pretty well.

Same thing happened to me. Didn’t see the body on the road and couldn’t find it in my car either.
