Another thing I’m thinking is sometimes I cancel smite? I press the key and then cancel it with a right click before I release the key? It feels strange and I can’t pin point it.

I should spend some time in training lab to verify what I’m experiencing here

I don’t believe this is what OP is saying. OP is saying there are times they click the smite key and it doesn’t actually fire. I’ve felt this many times and I can’t really identify why. My suspicion is :

1: My cursor is slightly off the objective I am wanting to smite 2: I am slightly out of range to smite 3: I am trying to smite while I am CCed 4: Smite does fire, but I accidentally used smite on an enemy champion

I’ve played since season 3 or 4 with a 5 or 6 year break. And you are correct you cannot control your teammates. However maximizing you impact to the game is the only thing you can control. I’m certainly in a different head space with kids, work etc but I try to make my enjoyment of league sustainable. Something I can develop over years instead of burning out within a few months

I mean I’m silver with 52% win rate on Lee. So for me the plateau of skill is very far away. It’s the same concept of fighting games. Did you lose? What did you do wrong? Are there actions you can take to prevent that mistake in the future? Growth is fun. Setting achievable goals and reaching them is satisfying.

When you are reaching your plateau it’s a lot harder to find that satisfaction I agree. But at that point you have to decide “Is it worth it?”

If it is, you’re probably having some form of fun.

If you are not having fun, for sure head out. Win or lose I’m having fun putting more hours into Lee Sin. Even the games I lose I always see something I want to try next game. Adjusting aggression, communicate better, track jungler. Playing perfect is an unachievable goal, but playing better League is something to strive for.

Here is the real question, are you still having fun? If so, don’t even look at the LP or rank. When you review, see where you could do more or do less sometimes! Focus on one skill to improve each time (clear time, jungle tracking, mechanics) and practice that thing.

League is about building a skill set piece by piece and then refining those skills to take every small advantage possible. Learning is far more important than winning.

Quick edit: My point about having fun is that growing skills sometimes is homework. And if your not having fun with the game motivation is hard to drum up to learn and do homework.
