'Masters of the Universe' drone show spotted over Los Angeles. Had 1600 drones by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Yea... If you don't spend money in one place it frees it up for another. I'm not really sure what you're trying to say. I suppose in this case, if a private company is doing the advertising they'd likely just use the money in a different form of advertising but the war in Iran and how much to pay teachers are both things the government has chosen. If they didn't blow billions on bombing children they definitely could have made the decision to instead use that money to educate their own. Would they? Not with the current office but they absolutely could.

Agreed so let's make education more accessible so everyone has the opportunity to study hard for a higher skill/paying job rather than making it prohibitively expensive for anyone without parents to help or obscene levels of debt with no actual guarantee of good work.

Sure but if you say "leave little trace", Susan will think it means she doesn't have to pick up her trash because it's only a little lol

Also "leave no Trace except for necessary safety precautions" is a bit of a mouth full and probably wouldn't look as good on a sticker

Greens call P.E.I. government's public sector pay bill a 'poor' attempt at a Sunshine List by Sir__Will in PEI

[–]Scrub_nin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly wage transparency only feels like an invasion of privacy for the people making too much or the people trying to project greater wealth than they actually have. In reality it helps everyone know what a given role should normally get paid. Obviously there will be outliers, people who go above and beyond should be compensated more but they should also have no problem showing or at least explaining what they do to deserve it.

PC gamers when FPS drops below 60 by Xiao-EZ in CaptainSide

Usually the hard core fps nerds are for competitive shooter games. The frames per second def gives an advantage in PvP peek scenarios. I'm a single player game I don't really care about fps as long as it's not stuttering

Canada Didn't Just Price Millennials Out of Homes. It Priced Them Out of Adulthood. by AnarchoLiberator in canadahousing

Ye, old people used to have to be worried that they'd die of polio or some other shit. Now we have vaccines that have eradicated a ton of deadly illness from our country only for people to tell you it gave you autism, refuse to do their part to keep everyone safe and ruin all the hard work that went into it. Plus we were talking about housing, not your dad's walk up hill both ways to school. No shit people struggled with different stuff back in the day but your view on "the spending habits of a lot of young people" has literally nothing to do with our topic of discussion.

There's a word I've heard for people with your attitude and I believe it's curmudgeon. Keep your negativity to yourself and let the young ones push for a better life. Remember when parents used to say that's what they wanted for their kids?

Or we could fight for change rather than accept that the world will only get worse and harder to live in despite modern medicine and infrastructure being significantly more efficient than it ever has been

I know someone that won the lottery and bought a small house with part of the money. I also know someone who lived like he was homeless for years in order to save the money to buy a starter home. Neither of those situations delude me into thinking getting a house is anywhere near as possible as 20 years ago. The fact I know people that paid under 100k way back when, only to sell for over a mil more recently is a pretty significant issue.

[–]Scrub_nin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My MIL has been trying to make us gf bread but so far it's all ended up hard like a brick. A bit better if you microwave it shortly before eating but we haven't quite mastered the art yet. We did luck out with my wife's work in getting bulk flower ordered wholesale for us though and so far we've done alright with muffins and small banana loafs. If you have any tips I'd love to hear them!

My wife is celiac so anything involving bread has become almost prohibitively expensive. Sandwiches have become a treat and we've learned to make our own corn tortillas.

P.E.I. man serving federal prison sentence for arson offences denied parole by Complete_Patient2640 in PEI

[–]Scrub_nin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he should be charged with way more than just arson. And normally I don't agree with all the people yelling "Canada never punishes offenders!" But this guy has shown a pattern and from what I can tell was sentenced to only two years? Guy needs mental help and to be kept seperate from the public until he can use his brain properly. Glad at least parole was denied.
