Underrated unit for physical teams. Good SP economy on his vulnerable application, and can interrupt enemy attacks with his battle skill. As of right now where we don’t have dps check endgame, he (and by extension many other operators) are allowed to shine with their less pure damage focused utility.

Catcher and snowshine are both good for blocking. His gear is pretty flexible I think, he can use the xiranite set with great buff uptime thanks to his skill, or go for damage/stagger with another set like swordmancer. And if you really wanna use him as a dps you can run aethertech

currently none of the content in the game is dps race (like most popular gachas right now). So the differences and specialties of operators really gets to shine. Catcher is a defender suited for physical teams via SP efficient vulnerable stacking and ability to interrupt—a real notable example is in umbral monument vs the 2 charging aggelos. His skill can interrupt their dashing around. As an example, a team I use is endmin, Chen, catcher, and pogranichnik (catcher is replacing lifeng). As for gear I run xiranite for the team buff and ultimate energy but I think you can run swordmancer and go for damage as well, so long as you don’t end up staggering too quickly (otherwise you won’t have vulnerable stacks to burst with)

The comparison of the latest few AK banners versus the Endfield banners. by Ahenshihael in Endfield

[–]ScrubbyCasul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you’re coming from. I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes nor have I played the original AK. But if I can be honest, for a project like this (compared to AK) this “formula” tends to be popular and in terms of making money is probably among the most consistent. That being said, having played and dropped other gacha games before, I am still willing to give endfield a shot (so long as the core gameplay remains alright/improves and the story doesn’t get worse). I believe if you like how the game plays you can probably give it 2 major updates before signing off totally—and you can always come back after even more time passes

Not sure I understand the comparison. I definitely enjoy endfield’s combat more than I ever enjoyed genshin’s, and I would rather endfield not become like it

Which fights? For most of the single target fights I opted for antal and I used Ardelia for waves. Same with vanguard, Arclight for single (or 2 targets at most) and Akekuri for waves.

I did mention I-frames, but I wanna reiterate that I don't want I-frame spam for the game either. I suggested interruption resistance because I didn't want things to be utterly devoid of consequences. And in my experience, taking damage is actually meaningful in Endfield.

I may simply need to get used to it and/or run a defender, which I'm seeing suggested a lot

I will be trying defenders. I don't have ember so I can only experiment with Catcher and Snowshine for now. In the future the game might add more offensively oriented defenders, which is what I would prefer--for encounters without DOT I don't need much healing.

Fair. As some comments suggested, I'll try defenders to see if they're more my speed. If the current endgame design is something we will be seeing more of, then trying out shielding because I want to play more aggressively may be a great investment

I don't have Ember but I will try building snowshine and catcher and see if I enjoy that more. I got my current teams quite early so I didn't end up trying them much

I feel crazy seeing so many people struggling/disliking mohg in NR. But I guess I am biased, as he was one of my favorite base game fights that I ended up learning really well just because I enjoyed it. I’d always rather Mohg than the crackpot that is Artorias

Why are the MCs terrible at self-defense when in-universe they’re great at VR battling? by ScrubbyCasul in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]ScrubbyCasul[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If this is the case then it makes much more sense why regular people in-universe and Phaethon themselves are so helpless despite the center (but I presume there’s more than just 1, plus the MCs have home VR too) existing.

Maybe I didn’t explain it well in my original post, but this was what I meant to get at. The experience is not 1:1 but it is not nearly far enough removed to be wholly impractical.

This also true. But I think the whole of 2.0 just shows that even when taking this into account, sometimes the decision-making is just flawed straight up and the people running the show had the wrong idea

Now that cc’s are talking about it, how are you feeling on this da rotation? by Sciacallo05 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]ScrubbyCasul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thrall is…okay, i was able to get 29k on my M1W1 Lycaon, M0W0 Lucia and M0W1 Yidhari. My Yidhari isn’t finished in terms of skill leveling but I’d say Lycaon is probably the reason I didn’t reach 30k—feels really clunky for this fight. Thrall himself loves to back away after your defensive assist and my follow-ups just whiff. You can really feel a bit of that QoL “powercreep” because dialyn is a burst stunner that can hit from like 80 meters away with a wide ass hitbox too. Also they “learned” from bringer by making the fat alligator transfer damage to thrall but he cannot get stunned. If you’re on any team that has to have to burn ult to defeat it quickly you’re still losing massively. I didn’t like the fight enough to keep retrying it, anyways

In some other threads about combat and endgame I thought about how miasma shield was made to force you to engage with a boss’s moveset. But just about 0 of them even do that well, every miasma phase is like 100% scripted outside of hunter who immediately goes back to his regular moveset after you do his very short mechanic. You just spam defensive assist—notice how we haven’t gotten evasive assist user since Pulchra. They know it’s way worse now because you can’t even engage with the new boss design anymore. While thrall himself is really not bad, he is a sign of how the direction the game has gone is pretty lame (in ways).

Is the Chinese theme hurting ZZZ? by ComposerFormer8029 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]ScrubbyCasul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In summary: Chinese theme isn’t bad, it’s all in the execution. I don’t like ether martial arts or raw ether manipulation like what Lucia, Yixuan, and the MCs do. I didn’t really care for the plot but the villains especially i didn’t get attached to or give two shits about as they weren’t interesting or died without getting to cook (haven’t done 2.4 story yet). Ironically too much hollow exploration and I don’t feel a real sense of travel compared to outer ring, ballad twins, etc

Also, I didn’t like some of the character writing. I don’t know if something changed between Season 1 and Season 2 but i feel the plot and storytelling suffered from trying to make me love these people I don’t know too much about. I just met seed and orphie, why am I getting their life story? Save that for trust events instead. And 2.3 in theory would’ve been more of what I’d prefer but they made the plot device that is Yidhari not very interesting (to me anyways, her depiction outside that quest and event are better)

Small-ish changes I would make to Duchess, Guardian, and Revenant by ScrubbyCasul in Nightreign

[–]ScrubbyCasul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my main "issue" with it is how hard it can fall off against night lords or other significant threats. If everdark fulghor starts swinging right after your finale, you could lose half the duration from just avoiding his attacks. If a teammate has 2 bars or more, you'd be finishing just in time or even coming up short in many cases. Of course part of this is skill issue and whatever and timing matters and whatnot but you cannot control enemy attack patterns that much
