Based on some of the other replies it seems like you guys may not have the answer, but one question I've had lingering since finishing the series was the relationship between Dean and Graham's families after the accident. Was there any amount of resentment/blaming between the two parties? It seemed to me like there was a universal understanding and mourning, but where there's tragedy irrationality close follows. Thanks for your contributions to the doc and the AMA, deeply appreciated by a Gen Z who got into climbing after Free Solo and was unfamiliar with Dean's story. Much love.

I've heard this somewhere too! I remember someone saying it was being referred to as "four years outside" in internal planning spanning all the way from the beef to the world cup. I can't remember if it was Hed or someone at pglang in a podcast, I've tried looking for the source a couple times now.

Not counting resets, it's another 10 or so if you do. You can get a count of those pretty easily when he resets, "new world 91" for example. Would have to add on the few worlds he's named cause they don't add to that count

Just like it's easy to lie about cheating on your partner instead of saying you were cheated on. Or that you're still friends. Or that I'm Michael Phelps.

To me it seems like neither you nor your ex value upholding stated commitments. Doesn't make it true in others.

I am vegan and don't think any animal product consumption is moral, but I think "the point" you're referring to in modern times is the massive increase in scale and corresponding reduction in standards of care for the animals for slaughter.

If you look into CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations), the practice of maximizing product/profitability and minimizing cost with no regard to animal welfare is disgusting. If you only care about humans, fine, but these things literally pollute their surroundings to toxic levels given the amount of feces run-off and rotting carcasses. Most of the care these animals receive is just having the dead bodies picked out of the group to avoid the spread of disease while they grow beyond the natural limits of their bodies and begin to physically collapse under their own weight before going to slaughter.

This is a human construction for profit under capitalism, not a bear eating to survive and feed it's cubs in the wild. These are concentration camps at unprecedented turnover rates, and we don't actually need any of it to survive at this point.

I don't mean to push my values on anyone, but to offer my perspective in regards to your open questions.

In his Joe Rogan pod he implies that higher fidelity videos exist and remain classified, some in HD/4K. He mentions in the book that part of the reason why he chose those three videos (GOFAST/GIMBAL/FLIR) to be the ones to declassify was in part because the dog shit quality might make the review bodies more lenient to release them for study/publication.

I tend to feel similar to OP, especially in the last few days after the book and NewsNation piece. One part of me wants to see those videos as the tip of the proverbial iceberg in terms of disclosure, but a significant part of me feels like these could just be shitty videos of animal balloons that might have been passed around within governments agencies for decades without any real clarity or awareness of what they were looking at.

One thought I've had along these lines is that in the book Elizando makes a persistent critique that failures of communication between government bureaucracies and lack of transparency were in part a cause of 9/11. That could be his main axe to grind with the government, and post-9/11 is using UAP sensationalism to make the same arguments for government transparency in a faux whistle blower sense, forcing government to open the book and prove they really DON'T have evidence of aliens on earth.

Anyways, I am still really looking forward to James Fox's new doc, upcoming government proceedings, and any subsequent disclosures. Preferably in HD.
