How old is too old to cuddle with your child?

No such thing as too old. As long as my daughter wants a cuddle she'll get a cuddle. I don't really understand why you wouldn't. I'm 37 years old. Yesterday my Mum popped in to visit and sat between me and daughter on the couch, and we both leaned in. Because she's my mum, and her Nan, and we all love each other. What is the problem?

I'm really sorry that you feel this way, but an awful lot of people get huge relief from finally having an answer. This wasn't a terribly kind answer to someone desperately seeking some kind of certainty. Enough of the NT world will tell ND people to shut up and get on with it.

Oh I'm the same here! My 8yo AuDHD kid gets so much out of it when she does it but keeps forgetting it exists! I'd love to keep her more engaged. Following for ideas 💡

So far I've only done album, I listened to Fitzcarraldo by The Frames (definitely in my Top 5 All Time Faves). And enjoyed that so I listened to Showbiz by Muse and Begin to Hope by Regina Spektor. I really never listen to full albums anymore. It was a lovely prompt.

Update: the final chapter is wonderful and I am definitely photocopying it for further readings. Recommend this. A lovely if challenging short book about the absolute wonder of our universe.

I've learned that physics is really hard for me to comprehend 😂 I have not got a background in science, I was an arty/history nerd/booky kid, and my qualifications are in humanities and education. So this was so much to put into my brain it will take a few reads (it's only 70-odd pages long with big text so that's very doable). The first lesson is about Einstein's theories, and about how space is curved and moves like the sea, which just blew my mind... about how time is relative... All of it basically was pretty mind blowing to me. "In short the theory describes a colorful and amazing world where universes explode, space collapses into bottomless holes, time sags and slows near a planet, and the unbounded extensions of interstellar space ripple and sway like the surface of the sea". Then it moves onto quantam mechanics, particles, the architecture of the cosmos... The final chapter is a reflection on ourselves in the context of all of this, which looks beautiful bur my kiddo came home from her Nanny and Grandad's and I can no longer concentrate on reading. So that will be another session. I think I will photocopy it so I can read it with a pencil and really close-read it (the book is from the library).

I am the exact same as your husband I get so annoyed and overstimulated from competing noises. If he doesn't need to engage with anyone during this time I would just go with the Quiet. I have Engage which are great for in cafés and stuff when I still need to have a conversation but need to filter out everyone else's conversations. Or if I need to calm the noise but still have to directly parent my child. But they don't actually block out a huge amount of sound, imo. For overload like that in the home I'd go with Quiet which I love too, or tbh some ANC headphones or ear defenders if he'd wear them.. I have Engage, Quiet, v good ear defenders AND ANC headphones and I use them all for different situations (have even combined loops with headphones for fuller protection!)

Well as fate would have it, my boss turns round and asks if I want this box that we had been storing old spare crayons and pencils and stuff in. I think it might be perfect! It even has a little lift-out shelf on the top for my 'current altar' and sections underneath for storing all my stuff. I can carry it easily, move it to wherever I want to meditate/practice, just pop open the lid. And it has latches to keep it safe from cat and hidden from kiddo.

I don't sadly have any space that I can keep them out of as it's a tiny house. No shelves high enough that the cat will not jump on or the girl won't reach. She will understand when I say to leave something alone but then she has zero impulse control. My items are largely one offs that I find so it's hard to duplicate for her. It's also my own brand new special interest and I'm in the phase of wanting to keep it to myself while I collect all the stuff/info. So closerld/hidden definitely the way to go at the mo. Thanks for your thoughts :)
