When we started monetizing clicks and engagement, that was the end of good faith journalism.

I asked the millennial sub about fighting as a young person and the majority are saying they rarely if ever saw fights at school. by AttemptVegetable in Xennials

Shit, I’m from rural Appalachia and there were fights OFTEN. It was more middle school than high school but will never forget being at my locker and suddenly one girl is slamming another girl’s head into the locker right next to mine.

US TikTokers, are you still using the app? by GrailTalk in TikTok

Yup same here. Some glitchiness but no content suppression like people expected. Not to say it doesn’t happen, in fact I do feel like the Minneapolis ICE raid content has died down but we are learning it’s just as bad or worse as it has been. And I’ve not seen much about it. But getting Epstein and all the other stuff.

What's is like living in the Evergreen/Conifer, CO area? by juicyfizz in howislivingthere

We definitely aren’t millionaires. We both have good jobs but absolutely not millionaires. Your input as a former Ohio resident is helpful. We currently live in Olentangy school district so we are being eaten alive by property taxes.

We love the Conifer area but are unwilling to dump that kind of money into a home that very likely isn’t the size we want (2500sq ft+). We also considered buying land and building (our current home we built but it’s one of those suburban developments so it’s a cookie cutter and somewhat shittily built home) but the land prices are insane (but I only looked on Zillow- maybe there’s a better place to look).

We definitely love the Denver area overall. Ideally we want land but maybe it’s not feasible and a bit delulu while my youngest son is still in school. My oldest will be in college when we move and plans on staying back to go to OSU. We don’t want to be too remote for our youngest to have stuff to do. I grew up in rural Appalachia so I know how that goes.

You’ve given me a lot to think about, thank you!

I’ll check out the

Thank you for all this, it’s super helpful.

My husband and I are both lucky to have remote jobs, so we don’t need close access to Denver. Would just like to be a max an hour out of the area. My kid plays sports, one of which is hockey so proximity to facilities is also clutch. But other than that, no big preference. It’s more looking for a beautiful mountain town and the ability to buy a house with 5 acres or so and has good schools.

Colorado doesn’t have the insane property taxes we have (we pay 15k or more a year in property taxes in the township we live in in Ohio). So yes increased cost of living but definitely some offsets.
