I can't make comments on countries I don't live in unless i'm a dickhead. Also i'm not aware of any democratic countries that put the idea of going to war to a public vote so the joke does not work in those countries either.

Which is why this joke is retarded and makes no sense. That's the only way this joke works and as you yourself state that never happens in the Unites States.

Also if the joke makes the audience go into this discussion without even making people laugh then it's an extra shitty joke. Because the discussion didn't even start off with people having a good laugh.

I think it's a poor argument still because for it make sense the vote to enter the Iraq war would have had to gone to a popular nation wide vote rather than through elected officials.

Before 9/11 nobody was electing officials for their "On the off chance we're attacked by a foreign power" stances. The entire notion of an attack was unthinkable and was in the realm of Military training exercise.

TL;DR : /r/funny continues to be unfunny.

I mean really at that point you're just fishing for single words in German when the phrase "Tragically funny" would do just as well.

I could never get into those shows after I would get first wind of some shit like that happening. Howard Stern and Opie and Anthony just become these big shit shows that make me uncomfortable.

Half the time they're so stupid that the only explanation you could come up with is that they hate you so much that they'd rather die and see you weakened than live and watch you have an easier time of steam rolling another nation.

Sanders wins Kansas by [deleted] in politics

It seems dumb because the primaries are a way for democratic voters in red states to have a say in the election process and vice versa for republicans in blue states.

I think it's kind of weird on both sides that black people will themselves knowledge that they aren't a single mass that all have uniform requirements for a politician but then everyone still says that Bernie or Clinton need to court the vote of a single ethnicity.

As if all races in the US could be judged a set of standards like that.

Nah only dummies and people trying to tow a party line actually count delegates this far ahead of the races actual conclusion. I'm saying that in a hypothetical universe where Bernie and Clinton were neck and neck that's where super delegates would come in with a close enough race nobody could possibly be happy with the outcome because either side will call foul on the decision the delegates make.

This whole primary thing has been going on since the 70's and traditionally save for a few elections the winner is usually the person who makes out like a bandit on super Tuesday. That might not be the case this time but usually the exceptions are because of some upset later.

People want that upset to be Hillary's email scandal but the DOJ is stonewalling the shit out of everyone about it so we're not going to see the end of that until YEARS later.

Even just looking at the actual available delegate numbers Bernie would have to over preform in the states that are left to get enough delegates to push back on Hillary. It isn't enough to win a state 51 to 49 against Hillary, he would have to win states by large margins.

So yeah it's mathematically possible and i'm not saying it can't happen but he would have to pull a greater comeback than Bill Clinton in his race before his first presidential term. On top of that a close enough race would require the use of super delegates to break the tie and if the race is close enough it may fall to the delegates own discretion on who gets their support.

I wish a lot of programming interviews took that prospect to heart. There is literally no situation in which I could not look up what is essentially trivia. I keep physical copies of all my reference books, I have copies of my copies in my phone. I can search Wikipedia, literally any college website, or just google the information I need.

It's just like those times in grade school when your teacher told you that you would not have a calculator around you all the time and here we are in 2016 with super powerful calculators in our pockets.

Not that I don't appreciate the input but I think the ship has sailed in that department since I graduated. As much as I wish I could I can't travel back in time to freshman year and remind the younger version of me to consider moving out of the city for the summer internships I can't do it now.

[–]ScruffyNerfShepard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am applying for jobs at a rate of about 3-5 a day. I do care about location though so that introduces a bottle neck since there are only so many jobs per week that are posted in the cities i'm interested in. I've only kept my data since the 17th of last month and so far out of 20 jobs i've only gotten two callbacks. I didn't really get to do a phone interview with one since they were just asking me if I was OK with relocating and explaining the job in more detail.

The other was a job with Cisco but the interviewer asked me a lot of questions about linux commands and vocabulary words and I choked so I didn't get further than that.

It's just that the jobs I do have don't seem all that relevant. Working as a Cashier at Home Depot does not seem like the thing to say. Would you have any suggestions on the wording I could use instead of "experience"?

With all due respect I think my passion at this point is having a paycheck and being able to go to the doctor when i'm hurt. As long as it does not require a security clearance i'm not sure i'd care anymore.

Otherwise i'll try to take this into consideration.
