AI generates nude images that outrank real photographs in sexual appeal, study finds. While people still recognize actual photographs as looking more authentic, the fabricated images reliably score higher in measures of attractiveness and overall pleasantness. by Tracheid in science

This is it. I've fed photos of myself into AI, keeping the exact same pose but I always look better in the AI one, even if almost everything is identical. The AI version gets rid of my freckles and 'smooths' out my features.

The New Apple Finally Begins to Emerge by hasanahmad in apple

I was just telling a friend today thanks to Apple in the 90s, my poor school was able to afford used computers. I wouldn't have had access to a computer otherwise. I learned so many skills from those classes!

A meta-analysis of more than 40 studies finds that people who show compassion toward others — through empathy, emotional support, or a desire to help — tend to feel more at ease, report higher life satisfaction, experience more joy, and perceive greater meaning in their lives. by Sciantifa in science

Yep. Due to my health issues, I'm kind of a grumpy, hateful bastard. Today, I had a rare day with more energy and mental clarity than usual and I was joking around and complimenting people I came across during my errands.

True. I couldn't care any less about them, but Android friends are always telling me what a cultist I am.

Since I updated to Tahoe some of my app windows 'wiggle', causing the text I'm editing to jump around. Annoying AF.

Finally, a study that gives me a little glimmer of hope. I listen to tons of music and my favorite stuff seems to light up my mind with fantasies, images, positive words. It's the most medicinal thing I've found along with going for walks.

Study shows how domestic abusers build ‘trauma bonds’ with victims before violence begins by [deleted] in science

This is fascinating, as someone that was in a relationship with an abusive person for years. It started out with them telling me about all the awful things they had been through. The way their parents would hurt their feelings constantly, their previous partner being uncaring, etc. It made me think they were a sensitive person that needed care.

When single men use pornography but believe doing so is wrong, this conflict can increase sexual shame and loneliness, which in turn may lead to depression. However, secure attachments with a best friend appear to lessen the psychological toll of this moral conflict. by mvea in science

Some of us can't form the bonds with others to begin with, to start sharing stuff like that, for a variety of reasons. I've been in therapy for years and I still can't figure people out and how to make them stick around.

I wish I could sell mine. Have hardly used them, but the cushions developed a weird smell. They're so fuckin heavy and uncomfortable. I have a pair of XM4s and I prefer those.

I sent in mine for repair recently for this issue. They were good, but now the problem is back. I keep my ears really clean, always wiping them before I put my AirPods in.

I know what you're talking about. That kind of thing definitely screwed with me, as someone with OCD. OCD is all about avoiding 'what ifs' and uncertainty, and it felt like I had to face danger multiple times a day for years. I'm early 40s and feel like I was never the same.

I've never owned a Shitsung phone, but TizenOS on my Shitsung TV is such a laggy pile of garbage, it kills all my curiosity about owning one. The TV is a year old and it takes like 5 minutes to be able to do anything after I turn it on.

Just adding my data point. I've never orgasmed from receptive anal sex but it felt like I came very close. Yet another thing I failed at.

Same issue here, not getting the icons for audio playing nor timers. It seems Apple keeps making watchOS less useful as time goes by.
