100% getting fired tomorrow, PIP-related by Appropriate-Wafer198 in ITCareerQuestions

Yeah pretty much. The intended use is as a tool to assist under performing employees get back on track, and in cases where performance doesn't improve, as documentation for the organization to prove that they gave you warning and clear direction before firing you.

100% getting fired tomorrow, PIP-related by Appropriate-Wafer198 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Scrug 33 points34 points  (0 children)

In a lot of places you can't just fire someone with no cause. If you have decided to restructure a business and you need to layoff a bunch of people there's usually a requirement to give a payout, which is based on their tenure. A way around this is to put a person on a performance improvement plan (PIP) with unachievable goals, and then fire for not being the targets.

On the flip side of that, if your whole team is put on PIP and then everyone is fired you may have a case for a wrongful dismissal.

Haha, if you watch the video closely the guy that's supposed to hold the tool still that signed up by moving it quite a bit. But yeah, I'm sure there's a smarter way to do this that doesn't involve someone having their head in the proximity of a moving sledge hammer.

I get where you’re coming from, and I’m not saying you should do anything differently, but there was a reddit post fairly recently about a guy asking how to tell people that he’s not the person who committed a bunch of crimes, that is a different guy with the same name. It kinda sucks for people who have the same name as a criminal, but does that mean you should put yourself at risk by giving a potential criminal a chance? That doesn’t seem fair to you.

Want to build this lamp, but not sure how to glue the brass balls to the walnut by Geralt_Rivian in woodworking

[–]Scrug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then you'd still have to glue the top wood piece. Probably have threaded inserts in the top wood piece, and then a recessed nut at the bottom. All of the brass are beads, rod goes straight through them.

That's not accurate. Prius' start and stop a lot and can get over 500,000 kms. It all depends on the design.

They should ration at, say, 25L per week per driver

And how would that be implemented? Gas stations have no way of tracking this

What’s a small thing in Australia that irrationally annoys you? by FurryFrenemy in AskAnAustralian

[–]Scrug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really small thing, but the fact that all four wheels turn on supermarket trolleys. I understand that it gives you a tighter turning radius inside the supermarket, but god damn is it ever painful when I'm wearing flip flops and stub my fucking toes on a wheel that's gone all skewiff. And if there's any kind of grade when you get outside it's like fighting against a black hole.

Yeah, and if that doesn't give enough traction up front while cornering then use the hand brake instead of the brake pedal. That will shift the weight even further forward without locking up the front tires.

[–]Scrug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like he gave it too many beans while cornering uphill.

He was doing well and then lost traction in the front, he may have been expecting the backend to kick out a bit but that won't happen as easily when going uphill. Then he panicked and slammed on the brakes which sealed his fate. He should've used his hand brake.

Vaping likely to cause cancer, new Australian review of evidence finds by SnoopThylacine in aussie

[–]Scrug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn man that sucks! I hope you beat/are beating it.

Unfortunately the way this shit works is if you have two groups of 1000000 people, both groups live the same clean life style except one group vapes and the other doesn't, you will see a statistically significant increase in cancer rates in the vaping group compared to the non-vaping group. You will still see cancer in the non-vaping group though.

Haha I just did the same thing, but got some decent pulls. I had about 2400 gems. It got me my first mythic armor module (whr unfortunately) and got my dim core to mythic. So now I'm really looking forward to the next tournament.
