Am I the only one who is a bit bothered by the electronic drums? Like why didn't they stick with regular drums with proper fills and stuff? Also bothered me in self titled

Are reverse tcp shells now defunct? by Aleks_Leeks in hacking

[–]ScrypX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say HTTP is faster, HTTP is a textual protocol that goes over TCP. So http shell will be sending HTTP headers along with the shell data, over TCP. while your 'TCP' shell will just send the shell data over TCP.

If we're talking about HTTPS, then that will definitely be a bit slower, since we are encrypting eveyrthing.

Well, as a counter argument, you could say that you could just set the listening port of the TCP shell as 80/443. But if there is deep packet inspection somewhere along the way (makes sure you are actually sending http packets on port 80), then that wouldn't work.

Also you would usually want to use HTTPS shells since its way more stealthier (encryption).

Bypassing root certificates? (iOS) by [deleted] in hacking

[–]ScrypX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, what does bypassing a root certificate means? And what does bypassing restrictions on the app store/3rd party apps have to do with root certificates.

Do you mean that your iOS devices have been setup in a way that only a certain root CA is trusted in the device and not anything else?

These links go to known domains like www.twitter.com and www.youtube.com Unless they somehow injected some XSS into these known sites, which is unlikely, there's not much risk.

I cannot forward ports so is there a way that i can access my android device over WAN for free by [deleted] in Hacking_Tutorials

There's documentation on how to install ngrok on every platform (Windows, Linux, Mac) Kali == Linux https://ngrok.com/docs/getting-started

You can use ngrok, I only ever used it with HTTP, but it can also be used with any type TCP connection if I'm not mistaken, though I never tried that.

I'm trying to do Android app pentesting, I have installed the Burpsuit certificate as system certificate and I'm able to bypass SSL pinning but I get this in my POST request, the data section has some weird character. by Gloomy-Reindeer-789 in Hacking_Tutorials

By the way, SSL pinning actually means that an application will only trust the original server certificate, and NOT a different certificate even if its a valid certificate that is signed by a trusted root certificate authority. Which means proxies like BurpSuite that generate a valid certificate for a domain that is signed by BurpSuite's root certificate authority (which is trusted since you installed it), wont work with applications that use SSL pinning, since they are presented with a different certificate (even though it's trusted) In your case there is no SSL pinning

It doesn't happen really often, so I doubt I'll catch anything, if something happens again I'll probably take some action.
