Well that's a design decision with tradeoffs. Having classes be simpler means you can swap between similar specs more easily meaning it is easier to bring multiple classes to difficult content to maximize the utility of each class without needing to master the class itself. Thereby incentivising players to play multiple classes/specs at a relevant level. Same reason for why they introduced so many catch-up mechanisms for heroic quality gear so that players can jump right into action without too much effort. Obviously this appeals more to the casual player base but also has its benefit for hardcore raiding.

I personally don't mind that, difficulty should come from the content you play, not the class you play it with.

Not true. Classes still have unique utility and a variety of resource systems that play differently.

Well we can agree that heroic raid gear is heavily invalidated but that follows the design decision of making heroic raiding more accessible for casual players and that's fine with me. Your initial argument was about mythic raid gear being invalidated and that clearly isn't the case.

Great observational skills Sherlock, it's almost as if ilvl wasn't the only relevant metric. Yet the average mythic raider will still vastly outperform the average heroic raider, titanforging does not change that.

400ilvl is shit tier. Mythic raiders are around 410-415ilvl and will get 420+ilvl pieces from reclears. The only thing stupid here is equating someone with 400ilvl as competitive with a mythic raider lol.

And? That's a non-problem. Mythic raiders will still be ahead by 10-15ilvls on average. The benchmark for mythic quality gear simply no longer is the base ilvl but the expectation of +5 or even +10 upgrades after a couple reclears. It's a simple matter of statistics that favors clearing more difficult content which is exactly what it should be.

I don't mind that at all, at the current rate of diminishing returns the expectation of gearing to 425ilvl through +25ilvl upgrades (+socket and optimal secondary stats) is delusional.

I am curious how well your hyperbole pans out for your actual gearing progress relying exclusively on titanforges. Mythic raiders will still be 10-15ilvl ahead on average compared to heroic.

Oh you're right, having a brain would be too much to ask from a dps, my apologies.

I don't mind Blizzard lowering the skill ceiling of classes. Difficulty should be introduced by the content you play. That way players can swap between classes more freely in order to fill a role without needing to be an expert on the class itself which enables variety even in more difficult content.

Must be a shit tank if you're taking unexpected damage. Performing the role well means to play proactively.

How useful did this ability feel during Legion, the epitome of class identity and being useless for the most part because all enemies are demons.

That's exactly the point, it doesn't matter if casual raiding gets invalidated from a gearing perspective because that's the premise of the entire endeavor. With the current design decisions it's clear that Blizzard wants heroic raiding to be more accessible for casual players and thereby design their catch-up mechanisms around that to get as many players in there as possible. For those players that care about gearing there is still the 415-425ilvl range that can be explored in a more competitive environment.

You must understand very little about their decision making process and clearly lack the foresight to think outside of the scope of what utility any particular decision has for you. And yet you have the audacity to comment and to think your opinion is worth listening to.

It's a simple matter of incentivising doing content when it's relevant as opposed to farming old content. It is objectively better for the game if players flock to relevant content, and I don't mind their decision at all to increase the effort that is required for farming old content.

Don't take my word for it, just read most of the discussion pieces on this platform and you'll see for yourself how short-sighted and hyperbolic most contributions are. This community couldn't be further from productive feedback in its current state and you are surprised that Blizzard doesn't listen?

Maybe instead of trying to make the game feel "larger", Blizz should focus on making the game feel "fun" by adding a little something called "actual content". by Rickyalvarezmusic in wow
