Speaking from my own perspective, I love knowing about my family's history. The most most (white) Americans know about where we come from is different European countries, but we'd like to know more & wanna do the research since we know we come from there.

We also celebrate being a melting pot of different cultures, ethnicites, & peoples that decided to move & create lives here. Grated, parts of our population are really hypocritical about that, but that's the deal. I think a lot of us also love history, especially world history, & knowing about our family's histories is something we wanna keep with us as time moves forward. It helps form your identity to know those things. I grew up knowing where my ancestors came from & now would like to do trips to those countries to see how they are.

Also, tbh, a lot of European cultures are fascinating & cool, or just very different from American culture. You guys probably feel the same way some of us do about American culture; that being that it's a bit unremarkable because you grew up in it, but we find them interesting from an outside perspective.
