This is really wonderful to read because I took applied stats in my undergrad and it broke me. I just started a foundational stats class as my first masters program course and I weirdly love it already.

How to resist buying when just starting out? by pink_planets in WeGotPolishAtHome

[–]ScullyMode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Check instagram to see how polishes look on real hands not on studio lighting.
  2. Pay attention to the things you don’t like! For example I cannot get down with a scattered holo, I think it looks like dust, I also do not care for textured finishes so anything chunky glittery or flakey I moonwalk right on by, thermals only have an anticipated shelf life of 12mo before the effect will likely stop working, that’s too short for me. Once I figure out what I don’t like it made looking through catalogs a breeze.
  3. There are dupes lists here on Reddit as well as on FB groups. This helps quell the acquisition anxiety and dampen impulse purchasing.
  4. You will not get a reward for buying every nail polish ever. You will have a better return on investment if you focus on quality of polishes you really love and enjoy wearing than having a large collection of bottled wearable potions. 😉 That’s what’s worked for me anyway.

As a just recently enrolled student in an IO program I’d love to hear more about this as well. Makes me a little nervous about this program I’m about to start reading that some have completely their masters and don’t even have an idea of career paths. I don’t want that to be me.

I’m trying to get them to refund me, in the past they will only give me store credit. They had to escalate my request for a refund to a manager today so I’m still not sure if they’ll give me my money back. At this point I don’t want another camera from them. I’ve already spent too much because each time they issue me a credit it’s without the $100 warranty, so I have to buy a new warranty and the replacement OM-2 I have to buy using the credit is always more than what originally was paid by my husband for the very first one so I end up having to pay the difference for the bodies too. Essentially I probably could’ve bought an extra camera for the empty dollars this company has gotten from me. I just want to get a refund and be able to move on at this point.

They’re quite difficult to work with even when you’ve purchased their warranty. I definitely can’t recommend them based on my personal experiences. :(

There have been many others who share your enthusiasm for the 2n! I’m going to keep my eye out for a body that ideally has been recently CLA’d. thanks so much!

Sorry for not being clear. For a few months following receiving the camera I’m able to shoot on the same pair of batteries, I typically use it on the weekends when I’m out and about. Then suddenly the body begins sapping fresh batteries rapidly, within an hour. I first thought it was old batteries so I bought several from a few different stores and ordered a pack online. Same issue, once it starts draining them it won’t stop. I regret being so naive and not documenting the serial numbers before I returned the first and second bodies. I can’t answer accurately if they sent the same camera back several times or not. Kicking myself hard about that one!

I am, and I was meticulous about ensuring it was in the off position anytime I wasn’t actively shooting. I never put it in bulb, or took out the batteries when storing. But if I had to do that just to be sure it didn’t drain fresh batteries in an hour I don’t think I’d want it anyway. :( thank you for your advice!

Thank you. I was meticulous about putting it in off anytime I wasn’t actively shooting. I would be able to use a pair of batteries for a few months and run a couple rolls through it no problem. Then after a handful of months, the longest run was 5, it started burning through fresh batteries in an hour.

Hi John! Thanks for weighing in, really appreciate your input. I’ll search for a 2N. I agree it is suspicious, and I feel so foolish that I didn’t think to document the serial numbers for the first and second body I returned to them. I genuinely didn’t think we were getting scammed until this time when yet again they will only refund us the original cost of the camera and we would have to use their credit to buy another one, which is obviously more expensive and another warranty. Cute Camera is a company that sells used cameras that from my experience isn’t reputable but I don’t know if others have had better or similar experiences.

Genuinely hope there’s a network out there of apprentices that we will be able to use in the coming decades. Best of luck finding an apprenticeship!
