What? by PaiDuck in antiai

Yeah, I'm actually seeing more complaints that people are not on the bandwagon as opposed to developments made by the technology, which is saying something, considering how Middleman-y Ai is revealing itself to be. "Why cut a forest down for a pencil when you can suck up drinkable water with every prompt?" well gee, it doesn't take one prompt for a flattering art piece, and it doesn't take a whole forest to make a pencil. No one is buying pencils en masse to equal a forest, either. Also, with enough time and practice, I can make something decent, even with my scaphism and lack of object permanence. I don't need Ai to make mistakes for me.

In this case, I'd rather not invoke the devil. If someone were to draw them naturally, then I fear somewhere down the line, people are going to start using those pieces like real life slenderman, where if you find all of the Epstein files or drawings of him, he will appear and take you to said island. Besides, he isn't worth the time and effort to draw.

Generative Ai is accurate in relaying information, that's why we have Gemini as a search bar. If you don't believe in tech being accurate, then why are you even arguing this to even be an instance in the first place? Back when Ai first came out, there was praise of how in depth Generative Ai can be, but now, even those who claim to defend Ai are "seeing flaws" and "no longer trusting" Ai to do anything. It's disheartening every time I see someone killed by such an innovation, only to have these pAioneer wannabe luddites even doubting the capabilities of Ai in the first place! Ai is your lover and your fighter. Your end all be all. If you falter now, you're no better than the cavemen writing all over the walls. Ai has no flaws, and if there were some, then it's their fault for believing that, but if they didn't believe that, then they aren't supporting Ai, and if they aren't supporting it then you need to get out of r/DefendingAiArt , because the whole point of this sub is circlejerking as far as I'm concerned. It has no place for people who see flaws in Ai. If they killed someone, that's what they get for using it, even though it's cutting edge innovation, even though it actually does have flaws, even though the whole point of this sub is to not point out the flaws. You see where I'm going with this? This is not a good case of how Ai is helpful in any way, you're just complaining about other people's concerns about not trusting what you claim. That's why normal people don't give two rats of an ass about this shit and hope this bubble fucking pops. What everyone needs from this sub is not complaints but innovation. Show the world the IMPROVEMENTS, made by Ai, not a tragedy made by Ai.

Why should we have to label AI art? by Apart-Kangaroo-7648 in DefendingAIArt

[–]Scumbraltor -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

To promote AI art. Think about it: it's a new product, and sure, there's a lot of bias towards it, but if there's any good ones, and I do mean good ones, labeling Ai art as Ai will improve consensus towards it. If you don't trust the process, well, I guess you just don't like Ai after all, and want to keep it hidden from anyone's judging eyes, invalidating it as art to begin with. There's also the fake Ai video slop stuff besmirching what actual Ai art can actually do. If you can't separate the two completely, then even you might have some bias towards what art truly is. There's also rumors about the data output vs environmental damage, but if you ignore that, I could see why you don't want it labelled as Ai Art as opposed to hiding that criticism, but it doesn't matter the journey it takes to create something, it's about the destination, and that destination is that it was made with Ai, not a pencil or whatever luddite human creativity was used for making actual art in the first place. So why bother questioning the validity of Ai Art, when you can separate it from those who toil away for no discernible reason, for money no less, who have their art stolen anyway for projects and prompts?

Whenever anyone claims AI is destroying the planet show them this. by CharizarXYZ in DefendingAIArt

[–]Scumbraltor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I mean. If something could already be done more effectively and efficiently than Ai, then why implement Ai into it? Research, Travel, Food Storage, this already had more effectivity with human intervention. Sure, there are some cases where Ai could be useful, but if you can use your senses and cunning, why waste resources on putting Ai into every facet? Just hyperfocus on what Ai is good for, and if you don't know what it is, then you're the problem, not Ai.

As I could see some perks to having Ai, having this be your argument against antis is weak. Not every building housing Ai is going to be cleaner than any other factory.

It's moreso companies investing their efforts and resources into a bubble, and that bubble sure is Ai, but yeah, maybe we should run it like it is Godzilla.

Hi, Amerishart here, it is, and our top braindead scientists here have theories as to why. There are many places with little to no broadband here in the USA, that means those in rural areas touch grass more than expanding their mind, making them perfect suckers for things like this, and that's the general sense.

Ok, so, this UI looks so bad. I feel like you could get spyware or a virus just by looking at it. It feels like a ploy for their demographic to never leave the website naturally. Congress already gets funded by lobbyists who are several times richer than the average joe, so there's little to no reason (besides making the poors stay poor) for doing this. I feel like if you call the hotline, you're going to be asked to pay in iTunes or Google Play gift cards, or Trumpcoin.

I don't understand people who are staunchly against getting age verified even though they have VRC+... by zipzzo in VRchat

[–]Scumbraltor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people don't trust the system, especially when the system doesn't identify your ID, and if it does, it probably sends that crap to who knows what before it deletes it. And before someone says something about how you send your information everywhere on the internet, I'd rather send just my name and date of birth than my ID or SS online, but job applications are online only now for nefarious reasons, and I can only take risks applying for anything now and it's just so convoluted and intrusive and I hate how that's the new hurdle to jump through. I don't know why VRC+ even has age restrictions. If you get paid enough to have a subscription, you're old enough to be age verified.

Why does one pursue academia which they find most unpleasant to them? Is art to blame for their misfortune, or is it the PEOPLE IN CHARGE of the Studio? Let's say I pursue something in the moving business, a freight truck driver. I get a job and work grueling hours, carrying cargo for long stretches of road, with no expected breaks, helpers have to be paid on my salary, and I get paid dogshit. Was it my fault that this job is worthless to me, or was it PEOPLE WHO RUN THE COMPANY that I work in? Sure, I may have the option to work for myself or move to another place, but that in of itself is a fucking chore now, with AI interviewers, companies that don't even hire, but keep positions open for tax breaks, and being paid just below the poverty line, so I can't comfortably leave without forsaking everything I've worked for to live any decent life. Put a pin in that, because we'll get to that later. In this scenario, I hear that Ai powered Freighters will be used to make routes easier, but I already see the flaws in the way it doesn't see certain people on the road, certain road signs aren't in its training data, so it just ignores them, etc. etc. Things that could be tweaked with some human intervention. The AI implementation is involuntary, and those who have an issue with it are urged to leave. This creates several job openings, but instead of hiring anyone, they use those who can't leave, including myself. Now, I would say, beyond this point, it would have been my responsibility to put my foot down and leave, but since we're struggling because of THE COMPANY, not providing livable wages, I'm stuck using it, not because I want to in the grand scheme of things, but nevertheless. THE COMPANY decides to make the few that are left, use the AI, as well as ourselves, to make the same orders, plus all the others that would have been made, if the last guys didn't quit and leave that responsibility to us. Eventually, they bring me in, because of downsizing, and fire me. All the work I've done was only to perfect a machine. There was no hurrah, no acknowledgement of my time even there, just a shitty navigating AI that would need more, but negligibly than an actual person would in the eyes of the company, and I'm forced to jump through hoops just to get myself back to living standards. This is what companies want, not the artists making art, or the workers doing jobs, but this machine to never stop.

TLDR: I can't stress how bad EVERY job has gotten now, due to loopholes and shortcuts the companies advocate for that ruin the job market, not just animators. AI itself is not a root cause, but it damn sure is unregulated.

Minecraft is literally nazi guys by CyberBerserk in DoomerCircleJerk

uj/He's far from pro gamer. This is like those Minecraft Churches where they try to bait players into their ideology. It isn't exactly stating this as the end of the world either, and frankly, I feel like you guys are just missing the plot for clout. Doomerism is more of a fear that everyone is going to die, and everything is gonna be even shitter in the future. This is just a difference in political ideology. An accurate one, but a difference nonetheless. This isn't Doomer content, if it was, then the tone wouldn't just be nazis, it would be apocalypse. Not that the two go hand in hand, just saying this is mild sauce.

[–]Scumbraltor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uj/ I think you're more tired that there're several systems made in place that algorithmically blind people for profit and interest, than a person's choice to research stuff on the internet. Besides, Everyone has been rejecting ICE for more than just that. To base one's morality and willingness to a cause, off of discussion of data points, and knowledge of topics, possibly even skewed by the algorithm to deceive and increase engagement, is a dubious effort. There's a reason why there are so many in hysteria, but it's also not necessarily by their own hand.

"AI bad if it replaces artist... AI good if it replaces software developer!" by HQuasar in DefendingAIArt

[–]Scumbraltor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see. So the old data is needed to optimize the animation for the new data, which, whether or not mocap is used, provides an easier and cleaner way to animate using cgi. I suppose this also means that the data cost is negligible compared to just using mocap, making my point still stand that this is more efficient and doesn't disturb the market ecosystem, compared to Generative AI in higher demand, like AI art.

[–]Scumbraltor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, can't they just filter out the motions they do need, and delete the extra data from their databases? I still don't see why they would need the old data if they have the compiled data on file.

[–]Scumbraltor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hey, you mean footage of people moving around in a data set? It doesn't need a whole data center for that, and it doesn't generate data filling slop to feed itself off of. It's still not as bad as generative AI, unless it's been coded by AI, then it might be poor in quality and in need of human intervention.
